Add my sleep paralysis to the equation and some of you guys may never sleep again.

I hate sleep paralysis so much. And I only get it when I'm sleeping on my back. Then once I do fight my way out of it, I wake up so scared that it's hard to get back to sleep.
Sometimes I have these nights where even though it's pitch dark, I dream that I can see a spider hanging down off of a web right in front of my face, and it seems so real that I wake up flailing in front of my face, scrambling to turn a light on and I look all around before I accept that there is no spiders, it really was just a dream.

Sleep paralysis is a strange one, I've seen "shadow people" a fair few times which apparently is pretty common
I've also had lucid dreams and full on hallucinations whilst falling asleep.
I really enjoyed the experiences to be honest, shame it hasn't happened in a few years

Sleeping can be weird if you think about it, but it's a necessity of life.
Though I wish I didn't have the dreams where you're walking up stairs, then miss a step...and your leg reacts in the real world and you get a cramp in the calf.
That's woken me up so many times.

This is an odd thread. Sleep is completely natural. Every animal in the world needs regular sleep. It's like saying breathing or eating is freaky.

Sleep paralysis is the WORST.
I always freak out for a little bit, but remember what's going on and my strategy is focus all my energy on moving my toes. Eventually my toes move, then my feet, then my legs, then my brain graciously lets me "wake up" for real.
Before I knew what sleep paralysis was I had a near panic attack every time it happened.

It's when your mind wakes up but your body is still asleep, so you can't move or do anything physical. It's the exact opposite of sleepwalking basically.

My dreams always end up being really vivid, so nightmares are a special kind of hell for me. I'll wake up in full panic attack mode and take at least half an hour to calm back down.

I know what you mean, I've experienced being eaten alive slowly and having my flesh ripped off several times in my nightmares. I have woken up my wife several times from literally screaming in my sleep. It used to be pretty much every night, but now it's more rare. I think it's because I view life differently these days.

I have restless legs syndrome, which pisses my girlfriend off no end because I'm constantly moving and jiggling my legs, even when asleep. I get it when I either exercise too much or not enough.

My snoring sounds like a hippo being gutted with a rusty chainsaw. I've had people record it for me in the past. It sounds awesome.

I have a hard time sleeping without a fan, even in the winter. A box fan gives off the perfect white noise to drift off too. Sometimes I have extremely vivid dreams before I even fall asleep. I mean full blown seeing and hearing people. It is always something familiar, like my friends laughing or my mom telling me dinner is ready. Lately, I've been able to identify it and control my dreams somewhat when it happens. I love it.

I literally can't imagine falling asleep minutes after going to bed. It takes an hour for me to even start dozing off in bed.

My dreams verge between nightmares and shit you'd see in an arthouse indie movie.
