I'm generally a big fan of trance/techno/goa/electronic music.
Dubstep was mindblowingly awesome the first time I heard it around 2012 but it got old extremely fast. Listened to it a lot through 2012/2013. Now in 2014, I randomly came across a dubstep tune (after about a few months of mostly forgetting about it), only after about 3 seconds, it's like, "This sucks" and I quickly turned it off.
The other forms of electronic music have held up very well over the years, so I'm still a huge fan of many of the other genres, but for some reason, dubstep is annoying to me now, even though I should still like it as a trance/techno fan.

Never cared for it. It is like a mishmash of industrial dance and dark wave but lacks the interesting parts. And I still insist it sounds like Transformer porno.

I can't tell you that I've ever even listened to it. Like I'm aware of what it is, sorta, but don't know that I've ever listened to a single song.

I keep on hearing songs and asking "Is this dubstep?" but I always get no, it's a different subgenre of electronic music, to the point that I have no idea what it's actually supposed to sound like.

How does dubstep separate from the likes of house or techno? I can separate jungle music because Flying Lotus is an example of using trance and jungle styles.
Is Skrillex considered dubstep? I remember enjoying some of the songs he did, as well as Cliff Martinez's songs from the soundtrack to "Spring Breakers," and that also includes the original score tracks.

I can't listen to it just chilling out, but it still works really well for the gym.

I've just heard it so it's cool to me. But I can see it getting old. Skrillex is a homo. Borgore seems like a class-A loser too, but I dont know if his lyrics are meant to be a joke. His beats are pretty good.

I think dubstep has rapidly died down in popularity because it was massively overexposed over the past couple of years. For a while, it was impossible to have the TV on without hearing a commercial with dubstep somewhere along the way. Reality shows were randomly throwing dubstep in. Network and cable TV bumpers too (I believe I saw dubstep on ones for Animal Planet and Discovery Channel!).
You can't do that with any genre of music. Especially not one where the number of good/noteworthy artists is small and so many songs sound the same.

I love dubstep but it does get a little tiring after a while. I'm going to see Bassnectar in November and I can't wait to see and feel his show live again.

Not really, but then again, the only dubstep song I've really listened to attentively was the dubstep cover of White Stripes' Seven Nation Army.

Im a big dubstep fan. Dubstep went main stream and people jumped on the bandwaggon and have now jumped off and good riddance. What most people think of dubstep is the more commercial side of it, there's a vast array of styles within the genre which are unknown to people who arnt into it, like most EDM genres. The likes of Skrillex and the main American Dubstep sound would be despised by dubstep fanatics, not all but alot. Im a sucker for sick bass so I love it, I think people dont understand that it's mostly sub-bass which makes it, it's not going to sound good on normal speakers. Your true subtle dark dubstep without some of the "filthier" aspects is great, especially in a dark, small club as opposed to a big open air festival in my opinion. Maybe you just need to be into drugs to get it! I consider it very psychedelic.

I've probably heard more complaining about dubstep than actual dubstep songs.
Given it's harsh sounds, I'm surprised the genre became mainstream.

I honestly am not entirely sure what dubstep even is. I know I could Google it, but this might be a topic where I'd be better off remaining ignorant according to the comments I see
