Maybe one of these days he'll have a great rival that he actually wrestles 1v1 at WrestleMania. Still can't believe we never got Cena/Edge or Cena/Punk at WrestleMania.

While Id like to think Edge, the fact is Edge's career just didnt last long enough to really cement it. I don't think that matters, to be honest. If you asked people who Ric Flair's greatest rival would be, you get answers like Ricky Steamboat, Dusty Rhodes, Harley Race, or other names that retired in the 90s or earlier. Despite the fact that Flair's career continued for years afterward, they would still be his best rivals.

Translation: "Sure as hell can't be any of my PAST rivalries, that's for sure. I mean, SHEESH, talk about snoozefests! No, it's gotta be something in the future. With somebody GOOD. You can't see me. 9.99."

Hahaha f*** off, John. Seriously, I doubt Cena is even gonna still be around much longer. He's too old, has had too many injuries and is just all around too sloppy. As much as he claims in and out of kayfabe that he's here to stay forever, he has maybe five years tops still left to go. And there's always the possiblity of a Lita or Edge situation on top of that, so any new epic feuds that he's gonna start now are probably gonna get cut short.

People need not take anything Cena says seriously or as canon. His character is an automaton that only sells the most recent narrative WWE wants pushed. Hilarious, seeing as how John essentially spent his formative wrestling years as a literal robot. You could argue he was much less of one then.

Cena's greatest rival is the portion of the fanbase consisting of males aged 14 and up. He came close to winning them over, got nearly everyone behind him in his feud with the Nexus, only to turn heel on his newfound supporters and defeat Wade cleanly in the true 'Cena wins!' style that most of the adult fanbase so detests, when it made absolutely no sense for him to do so.

I'd say Lesnar is starting off right as Cena's biggest/best rival. But as of now Edge by default, and then next after that The Rock

Too late to build up a guy as Cena's rival. They should have done it a long time ago They've tried. Originally it kinda appeared that Cena was going to be built up to be Brock's rival... then Brock left. Orton and Cena they tried several times but they did it so many times it lost all meaning and the matches themselves weren't that good. There was Punk who could have been but they kinda set it up too late... Edge is probably the closest to his real rival but due to all the stuff he did in hte Attitude Era it was only a matter of time till his body broke down.
