Why isn't he John Morrison? Because WWE are assholes. Ah yes, the famous WWE are assholes argument. I wonder what Chris Masters, MVP, Carlito, Hardcore Holly etc. think about this argument. MVP owned his own stuff. He created it himself

Yeah, WWE are assholes because they're enforcing the copyright on characters they created. Those monsters.
You guys don't even know how excited I am for this. Lucha's the BEST thing and making it more accessible to america is only better.

So, I saw an ad for Lucha Underground, it looks pretty cool. I am very sad to see Konnan in a wheelchair and a cane. Dude looked really old.

Yeah, WWE are assholes because they're enforcing the copyright on characters they created. Those monsters. What makes them assholes/monsters is the fact that a worker basically has to make the difficult choice between wrestling under a different identity from what they've been established to wrestling fans as (which kinda defeats the purpose of Lucha Underground making such a big signing in the first place) which Maxine/Catrina has done or never wrestle for another promotion with a TV deal again and be doomed to irrelevance.

Are the creators of 24 assholes because they don't let Keifer make appearances as Jack Bauer in any other tv shows?

Come on guys. John Morrison was a crappy name for a crappy character that WWE thought up. The only thing that saved it was Morrison's moves and being the Prince of Parkour, or whatever.

I think you are putting way too much emphasis on names. It's not like people had no idea who Kevin Nash and Scott Hall were when they popped up on Nitro despite them not being called "Diesel" and "Razor Ramon." If people are a fan of the wrestler, they are gonna recognize them under pretty much any handle. It's not like they can't do a character similar to what they used in WWE, guys do that all the time when they get released. They just can't use the name and whatever catchphrases/trademarks that came with it. If you need the name to get over, you probably weren't any good to begin with. Talent shines no matter what name it's under On top of all of that, the wrestlers have no right to the trademarks in the first place. John Morrison was a WWE creation. Just because he played the character doesn't mean that Morrison suddenly has the right to use that name wherever he wants. That's like saying Adam West owns the rights to Batman because he played the character at one point. WWE owns all of that stuff so they get to decide who uses it. Considering that WWE still sends out royalty checks to wrestlers who likenesses they use on DVD's and such, I'd say it's more than fair.

People who've signed for the WWE over the past decade know what the deal is when it comes to their name and character when they're assigned one by the WWE. I have a little sympathy when the guy playing the character had a lot of say in their creation, Sin Cara could not have existed without the original Mistico, for example, but JoMo seems to be an entirely WWE creation based on a figure from pop culture.

I absolutely LOVE this channel. I'm going to check this out. It might seem a little weird though, if it sounds like a wrestling promotion with no titles, and the wrestling as window dressing for a TV series-sounds a little like WMAC Masters.

Debut episode airs tonight on El Rey. I'm told to understand that it gets better after a few episodes once more guys get signed up. It was meant to be a two hour premiere tonight, but apparently it's back down to one hour. Here's the first lineup... Chavo Guerrero vs. Blue Demon Jr. Son of Havoc vs. Sexy Star Johnny Mundo vs. Prince Puma {Spoiler}Son of Havoc is Matt Cross, who's working an intergender match on the second match of the promotion's history. Johnny Mundo is John Morrison, and Prince Puma is Ricochet.
