Always like a big ol' ensemble pop song and this one is pretty good.
From Pharrell to Dave Grohl the classic Beach Boys song is performed with the help of the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

What a bland, forgettable cover of one of the greatest songs of all time.
Depressing that Brian Wilson himself needs about 400 multi-tracks or possibly even the vocal take from the original to actually sound in tune.

Since they already had Chris Martin it, I'd rather just have heard Coldplay cover the song by themselves.

Since they already had Chris Martin it, I'd rather just have heard Coldplay cover the song by themselves. What did we do to deserve that? This version is a little bit dull really, which when you consider the likes of Stevie Wonder are involved, is an impressive feat. They're trying to reproduce "Perfect Day" from all those years ago but this just seems too forced and a bit pretentious. They're basically scrapping BBC Three because of budget cuts, yet I bet this video cost them quite a bit to make. Thank f*** I didn't pay for it. Oh wait, I did!

What the hell is this video for and why the hell are the Youtube comments claiming this is a fake and that some Youtuber did all the voices because he's doing Eurovision next year? Jesus wept

It's one of those bizarre consistencies with the world, a lot of people think it's a bright idea to make bright pop songs that have stood the test of time (so far) and...make them...cleaner and needlessly "pure". Even the orchestral element is a bore, and it's a pity. Genuinely pointless. Not as awful as that horrendous version of Perfect Day from a few years back, but at least that was interesting in a "what the funk are they doing to the simplest song to sing/play ever?" sense. PS: I was sort of hoping that this was STARZ playing it from the title.

Complete and absolute dogshit, and the very idea of Pharrell Williams, Emili Sande, Chris Martin, Jools Holland, Jake Bugg, Brian f***ing May and Dave Grohl on the same track is making me want to eat glass

It's being done as part of the new BBC Music initiative, which will promote music across all of the BBC (that video and song premiered on ALL of its TV channels and radio stations last night at the same time), including introducing classical music to British primary schools, improving its Playlister service (where you can mark down what you've heard on the radio or TV, and get access to it online), and creating its own awards show at the end of the year. So many people crapping on a single recorded for the BBC children's charity.

So many people crapping on a single recorded for the BBC children's charity. It's not only been recorded for that purpose though. Are they even releasing it commercially? And just because a song is for charity, since when does that mean people can't criticise the song itself? Look at the crap that is released as the Comic Relief record every other year, or the pitiful event that was Band Aid 20 or We Are The World. You can admire the cause but crapping on a record doesn't mean you're against the charity.

I like it and the original, but I also like the Perfect Day one they did ages ago and Do they know it's Christmas. They are almost mini time capsules of musical eras. I love that version of Perfect Day, and I love the first and third versions of Band Aid. I can't stand this, though. And charitable cause is really irrelevant to the quality of the song.
