BTW, why does the WWE keep shortening names and then retconning the full names? I wanna refer to Antonio Cesaro, Big E Langston, & Alexander Rusev. I'm okay with Cesaro, because we can at least pretend his first name is Claudio.

Jesus, Raw hasn't even happened yet. Should Ziggler just lose the title again at an airport in some sort of impromptu match with Rusev? 1. It's not gonna happen on Raw because Rusev is already scheduled to face Big Show 2. They haven't even hinted at the possibility of Rusev getting an I-C title shot. Maybe they'll prove me wrong and actually give him a title match on next week's Main Event or Smackdown or something but based on the precedent they've set, I would bet money that Rusev doesn't get a title match nor do they bother explaining why. Remember how Randy Orton used to beat IC champion Wade Barrett for seemingly weeks on end yet never even talked about the possibility of an I-C title shot? No, I'm just saying that the match just aired a few days ago and you're already wondering if they're going to give Rusev a title match.

He could have a shot if he wants one, but he doesn't, because he's already got that sweet Russian medal and he doesn't want to be greedy. Lana: Titles are a Bourgeoisie American invention! Only the Pure Russian Accolades are weapons of the Glorious People's Regime of Vladimir Putin! Rest on your false achievements and your reigns as bloated as your capitalist stomachs. RUSEV IS A PURE RUSSIAN ATHLETE!

Maybe I'll give him back the Antonio then change someone's name to Claudio Cesaro in my EWR game and bring him in as his brother or cousin.

because Jesse Ventura isn't around to claim that this is a reason for someone to get a title shot

If that doesn't earn you a title shot, what exactly does? The point of this thread was to point out how silly WWE's booking of mid-card titles is and why most people just don't care about them anymore.

He doesn't need a belt. Lana is enough to get him over. As cliched as his persona is, it's working. Lana draws mega heat.

Vince is afraid that Rusev will take the championship to another company and dump the belt in the trash on tv.

I'm just saying that the Smackdown where Rusev beat Ziggler just recently aired as of your post. Were you expecting an announcement immediately after the broadcast of Rusev's IC title match. It just seems absurdly soon to clamor for the title match when WWE hasn't had any programming since the match that rose your point. If you asked this maybe a week from now or something, there'd be more weight to it. Basically, I'm just saying your asking this question really early.

I'd have a storyline where it's revealed that a Russian billionnaire oligarch supported by Putin has set up a Russian wrestling organisation, and has decided that WWE needs to be destroyed so he can dominate the industry. They could have more Russian wrestlers invading the WWE in order to disrupt their events and then win all their titles, before the oligarch comes in and buys the company. Rusev and Lana would lead the charge. Eventually all the titles are won by Russians and renamed. WWE can begin the fightback, but it's revealed that the oligarch has begun to bribe certain WWE wrestlers to get them on his side. Could be a storyline lasting six months. It'd be awesome to see a Russian announce team competing with King, JBL and Cole. Hell, they could even have JBL join them and start spouting pro-Russia propaganda.

If you asked this maybe a week from now or something, there'd be more weight to it. Basically, I'm just saying your asking this question really early. YES. He beat the champion. That should entitle him to a title shot. Obviously, I'm not expecting an exact date or time but the announcers could have said something along the lines of ,"boy, this sure does put Rusev at the top of the I-C title hunt!" Nope, they just talked about his feud with Big Show. He just beat a freaking champion and they treated it like he was beating any midcard goober. That's the point of this thread and that's my issue. It's devaluing the titles for no good reason. It'd be one thing if they at least mentioned the possibility of him getting a shot but they just glossed over it like the title doesn't exist. That's why I'm asking this question so early. WWE doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt in this case since mid-card champs get beat all the time in random TV matches.
