He beat the champion clean as a sheet on Smackdown. Shouldn't that automatically move him to the top contender spot since there's no clear cut contender for Ziggler right now? Obviously, the real reason why he isn't getting a shot is because he's dicking around with Big Show and they don't want him to hold a title yet but they could at least try to come up with an excuse as to why this guy can beat champions but not even get an actual title shot. Meanwhile, Cesaro, who gets beat all the time, is probably gonna get the next shot. That's dumb and a big part of the reason why no one gives a shit about the midcard belts anymore.

Honestly, if Lana said something along the lines of "RUSEV HAS NO NEED FOR TITLES!!!" one week, I'd be totally buy that an excuse but right now, he's not getting a shot because "wrestling." I hate that. It's such a simple thing to explain but they can't be bothered with it. Yet they can do all these worthless ass segments on Raw. |

Then Rusev gets a match against Miz for costing him his shot before Miz gets another shot himself. It could even be a #1 Contender's match with Miz cheating to win. The whole thing could occur on tv in a matter of a couple of weeks with all the tv time they have, it's just that WWE doesn't know how to logically book things anymore. |

I'll never understand it. The match doesn't matter, you are just giving Rusev an extended workout. So why not use a few ragdoll local athletes or a guy like Ryder? Why use the Intercontinental Champion? It makes 0 sense. |

I can't remember the last Raw that didn't have a champion of some kind losing in a non-title match. It has happened so many times, with often times the winner never demanding a title, that the belts are completely worthless. Nothing devalued a title belt more then beating a champion and not either demanding the belt, non title match or not, or simply not caring. If they don't, why should we? |

Rusev will continue to get this push until he faces John Cena, and that'll be the end of his run.
As for kayfabe, maybe defeatong America's greatest champions is all the Accolade he needs. Titles mean nothing in Vladimir Putin's Russia, as they are nothing more than a hollow achievement ready to be taken away at a moment's notice.
BTW, why does the WWE keep shortening names and then retconning the full names? I wanna refer to Antonio Cesaro, Big E Langston, & Alexander Rusev.

It's not gonna happen on Raw because Rusev is already scheduled to face Big Show 2. They haven't even hinted at the possibility of Rusev getting an I-C title shot. Maybe they'll prove me wrong and actually give him a title match on next week's Main Event or Smackdown or something but based on the precedent they've set, I would bet money that Rusev doesn't get a title match nor do they bother explaining why. Remember how Randy Orton used to beat IC champion Wade Barrett for seemingly weeks on end yet never even talked about the possibility of an I-C title shot? |
