Now, I've never seen Balor wrestle, but I'm excited for the prospect based on what I've heard. But the name Prince Devitt is INFINITELY better than Finn Balor. At least the Finn part. So here's my idea!
Balor wins some sort of NXT tournament which allows him a chance to wrestle on Raw. That Raw match happens to be a King of the Ring qualifier against some big name (Sheamus?), so no one gives Balor a chance to win. Balor wins though, and moves on to the 2015 King of the Ring tournament! Eventually, he wins the whole thing, and declares himself King Balor (he's been a Prince long enough, I think).
Now King Balor is a great name. Just don't Sheamus him and we're good.

Prince Devitt is not some awesome wrestling name. Much like CM Punk, the name is actually kind of lame, but the great matches and reputation that he has built around it has made it a name that fans really like. Finn Balor is an ok name. If Kevin Steen's new WWE name was "Prince Devitt" and the current Finn Balor didn't exist, people would be bitching about what a horrible name he got stuck with. Once Finn gets up to the main roster, and starts having great programs, I doubt people will care that much. Not many people are saying, "man, I wish Daniel Bryan was still called Bryan Danielson."

I'm kind of warming up to the name Finn Balor. It has a very regal sound to it. I feel like he could be build up as a Drew McIntyre-esque chosen one character, except actually ascend up WWE.

I like the name Balor; just not Finn. I do love the name Prince, it's so utterly heelish and reminds me of Prince Nazeem.
Anyway, I like the idea. Upgrading him to King Balor would be pretty neat. Great way to make him look a threat immediately.

Finn Balor can flatten a car engine. He can cut off your arm and crush your entire body without skipping a beat. How many people a year do you think get their arms cut off by Finn Balor?

I wasn't watching when Finlay and Hornswoggle were together, so when I read your post my mind immediately went to Devitt standing with a complete deadpan expression and swinging Hornswoggle around like a baseball bat. Like, Hornswoggle would be to him as sledgie is to HHH. |

IIRC, he was supposed to be King Devitt at first, because the Japanese thought it sounded like King David and would be a goo biblical reference. But he felt he hadn't earned being a king yet, ergo the Prince.
If he does become King Balor though, I want him to be King Balor the Blessed!

It's probably best they dont use the words King or Prince. I mean it would be ok if they just used those those words as part of a name just like Devitt did before he was in WWE. But I can imagine the way WWE thinks.
'So he's called Prince/King? Well we must incorporate that into his gimmick. The fans wouldn't understand a Superstar using the word Prince/King unless we put a crown and robe on him and have him talking like an idiot'.
