It's professional wrestling. The man calls himself "The King." He wore a goddamn CROWN while on commentary for over a decade. Are you really concerned that people are going to stumble across an episode of RAW while channel surfing, and say "well, clearly this isn't worth my time, look at how the color commentator is dressed! I can deal with the over the top characters, the scripted violence, the juvenile humor, and mostly terrible acting, but THAT'S where I draw the line!" Hence why I said, "Or something that looks like it fits." e.g. when he wore the King shit. What goddamn sense does it make to have an old man that calls himself the King wearing Affliction shirts sitting next two dudes in suits? If he had the gaudy jackets and the crown, it'd make sense. There's nothing Kingly about douchebag shirts. I'd say that for someone who calls himself "The King", wearing "douchebag" shirts is quite apropos.

Wasn't there once last year where Lawler lost his luggage and had to wear a regular shirt on Raw?

It's official. People have finally run out of things to bitch about. People have complained about King's shirts for a long time. It looks horrible to have King in those shirts, while Cole and JBL are actually dressed up. In sports when they show a commentator, they're not t-shirts like that, they're actually dressed up.

Lawler is going to look ridiculous no matter what he wears. He's a soon-to-be 65-year-old man with black, wet hair.
And I find it hard to be too down on the guy for a shirt -- any shirt -- when he used to wear his tights and boots through entire tapings where he wasn't wrestling.

Jerry's shirts aren't especially bad. They would look better if he would either A. Go on a carb diet, or B. Go one size larger.

I don't see anything wrong with his attire. He dresses in a way that fits his persona as the creepy guy in the bar you avoid at all costs.

I've heard Lawler hates commentary and does it for the paycheque/exposure, and I'd not be surprised if one of his conditions for not quitting years ago (especially when they booted JR) would be 'I wear whatever the f*** I want.'

Jesse Ventura wore way more ridiculous looking outfits, just look at what he's wearing at WM2.

I have noticed on this board it being mentioned that Lawler doesn't like being on commentary anymore and if he doesn't get to wear what he wants or say what he wants he will quit. My question is why is it so important to Vince that Lawler is on commentary?

He should wear a Honky Tonk Man t-shirt one week on RAW

Putting him in a suit aint gonna make him any better at commentary.

I don't necessarily think he needs a suit or anything, but it wouldn't kill him to put on a polo shirt once a week for three hours or something.

Putting him in a suit aint gonna make him any better at commentary. It's not that Jerry is bad at commentary. It's just that he's not interested in it and can't fake an interest. bless him though, he does try at times.

It would be okay if Lawler was the heel color analyst, but when you're essentially the cornerstone of commentating for the past 2 decades and has gradually come off like less and less of a reason to care. It's one thing when it's his flamboyant gimmick, it's another thing when it looks like a shirt you'd get in the clearance section at JC Penney. A man who is in his mid 60's shouldn't be wearing a shirt that makes him look like even more of a tool than his commentary gives off.
