At least when Lawler wore his gaudy 'King' attire it didn't seem out of place considering his broadcast partner wore a big cowboy hat or sometimes just a casual WWF sweater, but now with JBL and Cole nattily attired every week in suits Lawler stands out like an ugly sore thumb with his dumb f***ing t-shirts. At least make them all wear the dumb f***ing t-shirts, I just can't stand the contrast.

Cole and JBL making the exact same facial expression they're posing for that picture. They've otherwise got their heads buried in their monitors and never look up at the ring.

The t-shirts really do give the impression that he doesn't care, as every night at the table he's surrounded by co-workers who are all dressed rather formally. People can complain that "we have nothing to complain about" but geez, he stands out like a sore thumb and I don't think it's a coincidence every - single - week.
It comes across like everyone dressing up to an anniversary party for your parents, and then Uncle Jer shows up with a "I Like Sex" T-shirt and work jeans. It may not affect the night overall, but it may - and you know everyone notices it and asks to themselves "Well, why did I even bother when he couldn't?"
And he replies "Because I had a heart attack and I'm old!" and you scream "GET OUT OF MY HEAD, PSYCHIC RAPIST!!!" and you hit him with a lamp...........
......just like that.

Obvious Vince wants this or it wouldn't happen since he is so controlling -the question is why?
If I were Vince, I'd make Lawler grow his crown goatee back

This post took a turn for the hilarious, furthermore I did start to see the situation you described in my minds eye.

I'd change the dynamic completely. Don't think 3 commentators work as it's very difficult to interact. When it's two guys one can just pipe up when he wants to. With 3 Cole has to constantly bring them in and it's awkward and time consuming.
"Last weeek Ambrose said he was going to see Seth Rollins tonight on Raw, King..."
"Coming up next JBL it's the rematch for the intercontinental title..."
And if he doesn't do that it's just a blurrrrugh where they speak over each other.
I'd demote King to the pre-match panel and throw to him + AN Other 'straight' host a few times a night and have Cole and JBL as a double-act.

It's official. People have finally run out of things to bitch about. Eh, I went to broadcasting school for a while, it's not really that out of the ordinary to expect professional attire (or at least something that looks like it fits) from professional broadcasters.

It's professional wrestling. The man calls himself "The King." He wore a goddamn CROWN while on commentary for over a decade. Are you really concerned that people are going to stumble across an episode of RAW while channel surfing, and say "well, clearly this isn't worth my time, look at how the color commentator is dressed! I can deal with the over the top characters, the scripted violence, the juvenile humor, and mostly terrible acting, but THAT'S where I draw the line!"

I imagine that it's in part calculated, since they like to present King as the fun-loving type. It'd be kind of like having Fonzie wear a tux.

And hell, a plain t-shirt like the one under his blazer above would be okay. But these shirts he apparently designs himself are just hideous.

I figure if he designs them and likely sells them, it's probably part of his contract that he gets to wear them on the air, as part of his deal.

Props to the King for taking the time to design his own attire on a regular basis, but does he *really* need to make them all look like rejected Tap-Out shirts?

Hence why I said, "Or something that looks like it fits." e.g. when he wore the King shit. What goddamn sense does it make to have an old man that calls himself the King wearing Affliction shirts sitting next two dudes in suits? If he had the gaudy jackets and the crown, it'd make sense. There's nothing Kingly about douchebag shirts.

I've found his shirts to be an eyesore for quite a while, but thought most on this site wouldn't care.
I often imagined they suggested Jerry Lawler to look more presentable while commentating and Vince, being in the same room, replying, "God damn, he's the king, he can wear whatever he wants!"
