Do you guys agree? Young fresh rapper John Cena vs the spoiled pampered third generation star Randy Orton. I feel like if they fueded in 2004 the fued would be looked upon more fondly than it is now

If we had to have them feud then we should have had these feuds with them
- Thuganomics Cena vs Evolution Orton (2004) - Marine Cena vs RKO Orton (2007) - Cenation Cena vs Viper Orton (2009) - Current Cena vs Authority Orton (2013)
That's it. We shouldn't be seeing anything which has them in the same match as now, I mean really they don't need to even interact at all. This current match is a joke really. Not only because of how it was just randomly thrown together for no reason (Cena/Del Rio for the WHC had more of a story) but because they literally faced each other not that long ago so this is basically useless. There's no need for it. They've also given this way on tv multiple times whether Raw or actual PPV matches that they aren't feuding. We've seen it too much.
It's stupid.

Every feud they've had has been the exact same scenario. Cena is the squeaky clean face and Orton is the despicable cheating heel. There's not really a whole lot of depth between their characters to sink our teeth into how supposedly deep WWE wants us to believe this feud is.
Think about it, what was the difference between their feud in 2007 compared to their feud in 2009? Or either of those and their most recent one? Any real differences so small that they don't matter, and it makes all their feuds feel exactly the same.

No, because in 2004 Orton was still having shitty matches except when he was letting Foley kick his ass all over the universe, and Cena was still wrestling like a cartoon character made of rubber until late 2005 at least. The feud might've been okay but the matches would suck a bag of dicks.

I remember actually being pretty excited for their first match on the Eddie Tribute show. Even trying to wake up my friends brother who had fallen asleep. I think I somewhat bought into the "this is Rock vs Austin" thing back then...

I would have preferred for them to be a tag team some time over the years instead. Whenever they're "Forced to tag, King!", they oddly have better chemistry than they do as opponents and even set their opponents up for neat tag versions of their finishers. It's baffling they never Mega Powers'd it.

I think I somewhat bought into the "this is Rock vs Austin" thing back then... Yeah it's weird WWE seemed to be deliberately keeping the two of them apart for years and I assumed it would lead to a WM match between them, back then I'd like to have seen that. Then they threw their first encounter out on the tribute show before running the feud into the ground. It was a really strange way of handling things.
