It is, in my opinion, an awful, awful name for a wrestler.
What say you?

He doesn't need a silly name like that or a shallow show-ff gimmick. The Natural Nic Nemeth that looks and wrestles just like Dolph Ziggler would probably be even more over. Some guys work better if they're just themselves, I think Ziggler is one of them.

It's a perfectly fine name. It was something he had to overcome, but having established himself it has an immediate recognition factor to it and it does fit his gimmick.
Also, the whole Natural thing people bring up every time this discussion comes up... No. The Natural is a terrible, terrible alias. There've been a billion of them, it means absolutely nothing, and there's no faster way to make someone come off as completely generic.

When one of the most memorable legends in the history of the business was called Randy Savage, I think we can pretty much accept that any name can be accepted with the right performer behind it. That's a smegload more ridiculous than Dolph Ziggler, which sounds more like a slight edit to an actual name, rather than a description of an aroused primitive.

Randy Savage is obviously a gimmicked name that perfectly fits the gimmick. Dolph Ziggler is a comical name given because the gimmick was originally based off of Dirk Diggler from Boogie Nights. I'd easy take the name that makes me think of a wildman over the one that makes me think Nazi porn star.

Something along the lines of 'having so much talent, the world should be chanting HIS name, and not something 'the suits' came up with'.

A prominent mid-carder changing his name? WHAT ABOUT THE TRADEMARKS? AND THE MERCHNDISE? AND THE BRAND AWARENESS?! So much bullshit gets in the way of things that really matter these days.

Hey I can dream lol. But I really think that name is holding him back. All that stuff you mentioned has got him so firmly established as 'Dolph' that I wonder if Vince and creative don't see him as being 'worth' an overhaul. The IWC would love to cheer (insert nickname) Nick Nemeth, but then NO ONE would get the name change. No one being kids who wear Cena gear and drink Diet Mt. Dew and chant 'You Suck' even tho they are too young to understand what exactly that phrase means. (Too much sarcasm?)

I think people put way too much emphasis/blame on names for how over the wrestler is. I firmly believe that the only reason a lot of names seem better than they are is because of the immense talent of the person with the name, and that a new guy coming up with that exact same name would just get shit on. There are objectively bad names, the Lift Sawyers and Chilly McFreezes and so forth, but those are rare and every other times, it's the wrestler that gets over or fails no matter what their name is.
And no more anti-authority worked-shoot promos please. Those were played out 10 years ago.

Brock Lesnar is also close to Brock Landers.

It's a testament to the guy when he can get over with a name that sounds like a German euphemism for something very graphic and, yet, oddly funky.

How many world champs were just a word? Not a name. Just a WORD! Dolph Ziggler is fine.

Maybe the key to success is to use someone else's name: Hulk, Steve Austin, The Rock, Sting, The Nature Boy, Edge. Dolph should change his name to Elvis Spiderman.

The name is fine
The booking however isn't. The poor guy is over, but for whatever reason, they don't want to push him
Story of the company unfortunately.
