The last time Orton turned face it was by accident. So there is a precedent for it.
Do you figure between the popularity of RKOVines plus the fact he's been feuding with a hated heel (Rollins) and is going to face a hated baby-face (Cena) will get fans to cheer for Orton and force a turn?

If he punts Cena and puts him out for a few weeks (wishful thinking I know) I'll love the guy

Orton's already turning face soon judging how things are played out, it's just that the RKO vine thing is a coincidence. He will turn face soon. The match doesn't matter much.

The last thing Orton needs is to become an internet fad gimmicked wrestler.

The last thing Orton needs is to become an internet fad gimmicked wrestler. Why not? It's not like he has anything else going on. As a face he spent a solid couple of years floundering in the midcard to diminishing returns in terms of crowd reaction, and as a heel he's been heatless and at this point barely even gets any sort of actual storylines. At least him randomly RKOing people in backstage segments or something for no reason might get over as a comedy thing.

Villains can be a meme too. Light, the evil maniac from Death Note's "just as planned" is something I've seen memed for years and years for example. Or M. Bison's "delicious!". I don't think funny cut-out pics of Randy slamming random falling women to the ground and whatnot means he'll be accepted as a cheered hero by a wrestling audience. Though maybe some kind of comedy aspect to him RKOing people out of nowhere could be a thing, or just him in general being a more fun entertaining heel, like Edge. Rather than the bland style and character he usually has.
I think Orton as a successful babyface is impossible, for me anyway it wouldn't work.

It'll work for about a month until everyone gets over it and then he'll be a comedy act and worse off than before.

Well, it's gonna be inevitable anyway given the increasing tensions between him and Seth Rollins, even if RKO Vines never happened.

Just saying that making his character revolve around an internet craze that'll die out in no time would be a dumb move.

Orton has been on fire the past two or three weeks and that match with Ziggler last week and him stalking Rollins and then doing his snake thing right into his face made the crowd back ol' Randall.
Randy Orton is a natural for that Austin "beats up everyone" thing. The crowd want to cheer him but don't want him an out and out heel or face. They just want an ignorant ass kicker.

I read reports that he was getting huge pops at the house show in Canada this weekend. Louder than Ambrose. If this spills over to the Raw audience every week, it would make sense to turn him.

Saying the popularity of RKOVines would be the reason for an Orton face turn would be like saying Lesnar would turn face because of the popularity of UFC.
Orton would turn face, WWE would take credit for it...nothing else exists outside the WWE.

I can definitely confirm this. I attended last night's live event in Quebec City and Orton had by far the loudest pop of all the wrestlers there. Ambrose had a good pop but not even close to Orton's. I don't know how this translates over in the US right now but I wouldn't surprised for this to accelerate Orton's face turn.

I say Orton just goes around in a boxcar from town to town like a hobo. Going where ever he's needed RKOing to solve the problem of the week. He can have a chimp with him.

He was already due a face turn before this all kicked off anyway, his heel run is already incredibly stale.
He just needs to throw RKO's left and right on RAW ending with him either narrowly failing, teasing or hitting an RKO on Rollins. If not it's a missed opportunity.

The last thing Orton needs is to become an internet fad gimmicked wrestler. Question: did it hurt when the creepy pharmacist-looking bad guy zapped you with his Joyless-inator and sucked every ounce of joy and fun out of you? Because Internet meme gimmick Orton would be the greatest thing I've ever heard of this week.
