Just to get it out of the way...I f***ing love the WWE Network. I probably watch more hours of content they have available than what's on regular television. Not to mention the boxes upon boxes of WWE DVDs I've acquired over the years to feed my addiction before the WWEN and I think there's one problem we can all agree on when it comes to the DVDs, editing. I know lots of people wouldn't buy WWE DVDs for years for that reason and lots of us bought them and complained about the edits. But now, the WWE Network format of having unedited shows has ruined the experience of watching edited content even more.
For example, I'm binge watching all of the Hell in a Cell matches just to see how the match evolved from '97 to '14 and instead of walking down to my basement to grab the DVD and watch them all (to a certain point) the easy way, I've chosen to seek out each match on the Network while excluding two from the marathon just because of the presentation in the one way they're commercially available.
Now imagine if the WWE Network soothsayers are right and at some point WWE just says, "f*** it, we're not making enough to keep it going." and ends the Network, we're back to the edited DVDs and that's where the WWE cash grab comes into play. With the precedent of the Network they can release unedited, expanded editions of previously released sets because they know dudes like me will buy them all over again.
I see you WWE, I see you.

That's one thing I'm excited about when WWE Network eventually reaches the British Isles. I have every PPV on DVD up until WrestleMania 30 (everything from SummerSlam 2011 until WM30 is on Bluray, I purposefully stopped getting the Blurays because of the impending Network launch), not to mention various documentaries, match compilations etc. But I don't have the room to display them all anymore so they're in storage. But with the Network and if we get the On Demand library (not sure what's happening there, see the UK thread for our theories lol), its just a simple click and play. The luxury of the UK Tagged Classics series is that there is no blurring on WWF logos and no muting on WWF references so it must be fantastic for this footage to once again be seen for fans in the US etc in its original context once more! I see the Network as being a 'forever' thing for WWE (purely for the fact that PPV might not want them back haha), but yeah I can totally see "For the first time ever on Bluray" in the future if it was to close

The unedited footage has more to do with a settlement with the World Wildlife Fund than anything else. The Network wouldn't give them any precedent going forward without the Fund's permission.

The unedited footage has more to do with a settlement with the World Wildlife Fund than anything else. The Network wouldn't give them any precedent going forward without the Fund's permission. The Network was the reason they sought the settlement. No Network means they don't bother with the settlement and keep editing all things WWF.
