Im of course, referring to this interview: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Is0oHPL-nisWere his "shoot" comments planned in advance and run past the bookers, or was he shooting for real?

Basically I think Doug was just being a dummy. He was working in that he only said the comments to get heat without any thought about how inappropriate they were. They were off the cuff in that I seriously doubt it was run by a booker as it was.

I thought there was an interview somewhere in which Doug said he was legitimately P.O.'d at the company for some bad joke they pulled on him.

It was real because Doug had real life beef with USWA management and bringing up Jerry's statutory rape allegation & saying dude smoked crack on live Memphis tv was just a way for him to piss them off.

It wouldn't be the first time the Gilberts shot on a company...

What f***ing company would let someone accuse their booker and top babyface of raping a 13 year old girl on television as part of a work?

I get it. I'm just saying Memphis booking was crap. Their top babyface also got accused repeatedly of racism and beat up women on television.

The most amazing thing to me, having not seen this before, was that it happened in 99. Judging from the setting and production value, I was immediately thinking maybe mid 80's.

I thought there was an interview somewhere in which Doug said he was legitimately P.O.'d at the company for some bad joke they pulled on him. Yeah they were told to work it to the point of almost being a shoot, like calling Tommy Rich a drunk and Brian Christopher a steroid user, Doug didn't mind when they buried him, but I think what set him off was the fact that Brian mentioned his brother Eddie and his mom, he also admitted that he was wrong to cuss out Lawler because he didn't had anything to do with it. Doug also claimed that Lawler was gonna drive to the studio to fight him, I don't know about that, I don't think that Lawler could've whooped Doug. Man that shoot killed a wrestling promotion.
