Like you said OP individual tastes may vary but I'm right there with you. His "skits" have gotten more and more cringworthy as he's gone along. His promos follow the same formula every time. Starts talking normal and at the same cadence, "THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN SCREAMS SOME PG THREAT". His solo ring work has just been meh at best other than gimmick matches.
To say nothing of his physical twitches that are supposed to convey something "edgy" or "unpredictable". This is the guy that was supposed to be bringing this new energy and unpredictability to the WWE. Watching TV and eating popcorn or doing Kids Choice Awards skits isn't it.
Everyone feel free to disagree or call me a moron or whatever, but his solo run thus far has been a bust to me. Rollins has carried this feud to me. Hell to me he's doing so well he's had 2 main event feuds going at the same time. Feel like Ambrose is struggling to find his solo act footing and is being completely outshined by Rollins to this point.

*facepalm*
When it comes to the Joker, his jocularity is what makes his unpredictable outbursts of violence that much more scary. He can be asking you to pick a card, then slicing your throat with it the next. Smacking a pie onto your face, then putting a bullet through the tin.
All-destruction-all-go-all-the-time is more the Tasmanian devil's thing, and it get's very boring very fast. As long as they let Ambrose be brutal at times and don't completely neuter his violence, the "funny" stuff only makes the violence that much better.
Start your whining when he becomes face-turn Doink, shut up and leave heel-Doink Ambrose alone.

I wouldn't call him unstable or unpredictable right now. I've seen his indies promos and rants. Those seemed off the cuff, natural and organic. This whole thing seems forced and comical. If that's what everyone wants to see hey great, fine. Like I said this is my opinion. Wouldn't call it whining. I'm just waiting for when the good stuff comes outta him is all. Also you bring up Doink and honestly that's a good comparison. Thing is Doink was a clown, doing evil clown stuff. Dean is supposed to be some unhinged, unstable, wild card menace to the WWE...and he's doing evil clown stuff. To me they aren't supposed to be the same characters, but you're right..they are the same. Problem is I don't think that's what they were going for.

A lot of the best stuff, hell most of it, wasn't what they were "going for" to be honest. At the end of the day Ambrose is part Heel-Doink, Loose Cannon Brian Pillman and Jon Moxley right now, and as long as they keep that ratio they'll be just fine. It's when they start nixing the in-ring violence for the stupid pandering all-ages "comedy" shit that the problem will start. They haven't quite gotten there yet imo.
