Wow Clippers you couldn't just lose, but you had to lose and throw a tantrum.

Jeez, I know he was upset about the technical, but CP3 came off awfully sexist there. Because while I agree that was a bad technical foul, I doubt he would've said the ref "didn't belong" if said ref was a male.

Kevin Durant (ankle) said on Friday that "whoever want my [All-Star] spot can play me one-on-one for it."
DeMarcus Cousins said on Thursday night that this is "absolutely" the most frustrated he's been in Sacramento.

Bill Simmons @billsimmons 15m15 minutes ago The Clippers have won 12 playoff games in 3 years. They act like they are 5-time champs. That's why the refs keep sticking it to them.
Zach Lowe @zachlowe_NBA 14m14 minutes ago @billsimmons Call around on them, and you quickly discover/are reminded they are probably the most loathed team w/in the league.

Jeez, I know he was upset about the technical, but CP3 came off awfully sexist there. Because while I agree that was a bad technical foul, I doubt he would've said the ref "didn't belong" if said ref was a male. I'm truly bewildered by this mentality, which was on full display on ESPN this morning. I've read Chris Paul's comments and heard him say them and absolutely nothing about them comes off as remotely sexist. And by the way, he never once said Lauren Holtkamp "didn't belong," so I don't know where you got that from. His entire quote, via ESPN: "I think we have to show better composure, but at the same time some of [the technical fouls] were ridiculous," Paul said. "The tech that I get right there was ridiculous. I don't care what nobody says, I don't care what she says; that's terrible. There's no way that can be a tech. We try to get the ball out fast every time down the court, and when we did that, she said, 'Uh-uh.' I said, 'Why, uh-uh?' And she gave me a tech. "That's ridiculous. If that's the case, this might not be for her." The only thing he said that would even indicate the official's gender are "she" and "her". He didn't say she should go back to the kitchen, he didn't say her periods would attract bears. He said a rookie referee did a bad job and officiating in the NBA might not be for her. What's the problem there? Now, if Paul said "this might not be for her" about Violet Palmer, who has been an official in the NBA for 17 seasons, then I could understand how the comments could be construed as sexist. But what we have here is simply a player critical of a rookie official. If we're going to get so hyper-sensitive, that a player can't call out an official exclusively because of her gender, then what are we even doing? Because I'm sure an old-timer like Joey Crawford (who sucks and has sucked for as long as he's been an official) would kill for "this might not be for you," to be the worst thing that anyone's ever publicly said about him.

It's nice to see the Clippers fill the Lakers' usual niche of "Good, But Completely Unlikable Los Angeles NBA Team."

A few observations:
- Anthony Davis is a stone-cold killer. He's the best player in the NBA within two seasons.
- Chris Paul's comments on Thursday had a sexist undertone to them. Perhaps, he didn't intend them to, but they were. I find it hard to believe that Paul would have phrased it the way he did in talking about a man. Also, I don't think his damage control efforts were enough. Doc Rivers did a lot better job than CP3 did.
- The Clippers are in trouble. After getting embarrassed by the Cavs, they played one good quarter against the Raps and got murdered in the next three. There is no commitment to defence. Austin Rivers shouldn't be playing 33 minutes a night on a team that fancies themselves contenders. Blake Griffin, though he was probably their best player against Toronto, has fallen in love with his jumper and isn't close to the paint presence he once was. They need a shake-up in a hurry.
- The Raps need to add a big before the deadline if they wanna make a run in the playoffs. I don't trust Amir Johnson's knees and I don't trust Jonas Valanciunas to get anything close to favourable calls in the postseason. If JV has three fouls in the first quarter, as it stands, the Raps automatically have to go small. I'm not even sure who's available (maybe Dave West), but Masai Ujiri needs to start working the phones.
