According to ESPN's Jayson Stark, the Phillies "have no takers" for first baseman Ryan Howard.

The Royals have signed manager Ned Yost to a one-year extension through the 2016 season.

Just traded two of my favorite prospects for Evan f***ing Gattis of all people. Dang it. As a Braves fan, I'm not happy about it either. Gattis was my favorite player on the team and one of the few offensive bright spots. I have no f***ing clue how the Braves expect to score any runs this season. At this point, one run per week is starting to look like a great expectation. Between these horrible trades (Heyward and Gattis) and retaining one of the worst managers in baseball, I almost want to burn every bit of Braves junk I own. Almost.

And the Mariners acquired Michael Kickham from the Cubs for Lars Huijer. Why am I talking about minor leaguers, now? Because when the Mariners dealed with the Cubs to acquire Justin Ruggiano, the Cubs then went on to acquire Chris Denofria (who was with Mariners last year) and to make room for him in he 40-man roster they designated... Michael Kickham.

If you guys need the Braves' offense this season, they'll be hanging out below the Mendoza line.

The Braves are pretty clearly rebuilding for the new stadium; guess they figured they had a decent core up to now, but not one they could go all the way with. The Gattis deal is pretty damn good for them, and I'm upset that Houston agreed to it.
Still, yeah, they're clearly not lined up to compete for the next couple of years.

He was dealt b/c he was probably getting $10 million via arbitration this winter and that's insane for a relief pitcher.

Rob Bradford of WEEI.com was told by a source familiar with the Phillies’ thinking on the matter that general manager Ruben Amaro, Jr. and his club have been "unrealistic in their expectations" in regard to a return in a trade for Cole Hamels.
