Probably best as the 6 month commitment is one of the things turning people off.

they never held anyone to the commitment anyway so isn't this basically what it's always been realistically?

Maybe, but it's the casual person who doesn't know they don't hold people to it that they're trying to sell to.
I would have thought they'd raise the price for a single month to be honest, since a lot of people will just buy it when there's a good special event on then drop it so it'll be a more variable income.
Plus they might need to make more events worth paying for.

I said in the other thread, people have Netflix and almost forget about it, for months on end, years maybe, because they know they have the power just to cancel at any time. They kinda like it there, will dip in occasionally etc. But ask someone whose had Netflix for 6 months and barely watched it if he wants to now sign up with a minimum 6/12/18 month commitment and it changes everything. People feel daunted by being asked today to commit to something next Spring. People like being able to get out of things or at least knowing that they can.
I don't think it'll be a problem people signng up for one event. It'll happen a bit for WM but I don't think that'l be as big a problem as the prospect of a long-term commitment is now.

So do we have to renew every month if we did the 6 month commitment before this and arent on auto renew?

So do we have to renew every month if we did the 6 month commitment before this and arent on auto renew? I think it'll just be rolling. I could be wrong but I suspect people currently in the middle of 6 month commitment will find themselves now able to simply cancel out of that agreement.

So do we have to renew every month if we did the 6 month commitment before this and arent on auto renew? Be honest I don't know for sure but I imagine if you have it set up to not auto renew, yeah, that's going to be the way to go about it. Thinking they need to modify all their literature and agreements before they can remove the option to opt out of auto renew. So it could be a bit before that happens.

Will be really interesting to see what they charge for Wrestlemania month. 9.99. Put your house on it. They'll want it to be recurring for people to just tick over without thinking about it. If you make EVERYONE have to pause and resubscribe for WM for 14.99 or 17.99 you're going to get a ridiculous number of people who won't do it. it'll just inconvenience 731,000 people to make them update/change/agree to a new price point for one month and all the headaches that goes with that.

Yea, I tend to agree with you, they're probably hoping to offset any financial loss with getting more subscribers that month.

This actually puts more pressure on WWE to consistently make good PPVs. If they're already having a problem with getting subscribers, openly having an option to cancel should be great motivation for them.

There was a story about this in the "Marketplace" section of today's Wall Street Journal.... And that is why I am proud to be American!

Am I the only person who doesnt understand the logic behind the 6 month commitment since all I had to do was cancel my PayPal subscription after 2 months and never paid a penny again.. I didnt commit to anything..

Probably best as the 6 month commitment is one of the things turning people off. To be perfectly honest, it was the thing that turned me off. I don't always have 10 bucks to spare once a possible payment date rolls around.
