I studied abroad in Ireland awhile back and flew to Sicily for spring break. I'm pretty sure my friend and I were the only non-Italians onboard. Once we arrived in Palermo, the entire plane cheered so loudly that the stewardesses had to tell the passengers to remain quiet. It's cool to see people so delighted to arrive in their country. Didn't get the same vibe when I flew back to the States, though.

Depends on the destination. When you fly into Vegas everyone knows what's up and cheers. Now if you're flying into let's just say Detroit there's really no need for it. You cheer when you're leaving...
