{Spoiler}{Spoiler}I enjoyed it up until the end. I thought the LAPD let him off way too easy considering 4 people, including the death of a police officer was on his hands. Just didn't seem realistic considering how much evidence was against him. Him finally seeing some justice over how far he took creating his own news should have came back to cause his downfall. {Spoiler}I expected him to , at least be charged with the murder of his employee / partner

I'm bumping a thread from last month, because I saw Nightcrawler today. It's quietly starting to make some gains at the box office as it was added back to a lot of theaters last weekend.
It was a really fun thriller. I had no idea what it was about going into it, other than that Jake Gyllenhaal played a bit of a sociopath. I think Gyllenhaal was great in this. I think he has been putting out some great performances. I thought his performance was the strongest in Prisoners last year. While this is great as a Jake Gyllenhaal showcase, it was nice to see Rene Russo again. It's been awhile since I remember seeing her in a major film role. Okay, yeah, she was in the Thor films.

As good as the acting in this was (Jake was suitably creepy throughout) I feel like the actual film went nowhere. I left the cinema thinking what was the point of this film.

I saw it recently. I really liked it for the most part, with the exception of the abrupt ending. The movie felt short (which for an hour and 40 minutes, is a good thing). Seeing the credits after that last scene, I was like "That's it? Okay."
I mean, it was a good movie with a good premise, plenty of good set ups, but it also feels like a lot of the film was left on the cutting room floor. The subplot with Paxton's character for example was introduced and solved within 20 minutes. A little more padding and possibly an additional 5 minutes added to the end of the movie would have been good.
I used to really hate Jake, but he's starting to make it difficult for me.

Yeah, I didn't think it was some really great film, but I think it's pretty good and pretty fun and it's largely a showcase for Jake Gyllenhaal.

Am I the only one who these days when I see a great character like bloom, I am sad they are in a movie and not a series? Actually, this whole premise could have made a great tv series. The rise of his company through they years..

The rise of his company through they years.. Given how the execs have a boner for sequels, I could see them pulling that here, changing the tone of the films.

Just watched this last night and thought it was excellent.
