Anything involving fire, barbed wire ropes or explosives
That's not wrestling IMO

Even if two guys killed one another, the tragedy would not equal that of the Doomsday Cage Match at Uncensored '96.

Wow I've been hearing about the wcw disasters over n over again for yrs and I've never heard the one about terry funk trying to fight a horse... There was a clip of that on the Monday Night War show (I forget which episode), where the horse kicks Terry Funk. Absolutely insane, because both guys are in that very confined stable with a horse that is clearly getting more and more spooked and freaked out, and even the little kick it gives Funk looks nasty. It could so, so easily have been so, so much worse. Whoever came up with that idea is a complete moron, and not just from a performer safety point of view. Imagine if PETA or someone had picked up on it (maybe they did) and went after WCW for animal cruelty. I really hate gimmick matches like most of those on this list, because what they really boil down to is usually, 'yeah, you know this is choreographed entertainment, but in this one, someone could get really hurt!' It's just sleazy.

They briefly talk about the Megumi Kudo vs Combat Toyoda match and seem to assume it's trash. It isn't. It may be a barbed wire explosion match but it really is a fantastic four star plus classic.

Agreed. No way that match belongs on this list (unless it's in a "now this is how a match is done right" capacity). I also have to add that I found the Shark Cage match more entertaining than I expected. I thought that there would have been at least one scaffold match listed, too... maybe the one where Cornette broke his knees.

I think it's safe to say that you could put a whole lot more than six entries on the list . The one match where Dean Malenko gets disqualified because he forgot the rules, rolling out of the ring during a catch as catch can match, has to be up there, too.

Which makes me think of the always hilarious top rope challenge that Edge and Khali had, where Khali climbs over the top rope to go after Edge on the outside, and the announcers having a reaction along the lines of "Umm, didn't he just- shouldn't the match be over now?" and when Edge did ultimately eliminate him, saying "Okay, finally", essentially.

I was expecting to see Megumi Kudo on the list. However, the match I was expecting was her retirement match, which was a "No ropes 200V double hell double barbed wire barricade double landmine glass crush death match." This was a match fought under hardcore rules wherein the ropes are removed and replaced by 200V electrified, double-layered barbed wire; and the ring surrounded by double layers of landmines and broken glass.
Yeah, you heard me correctly. This is a thing that exists.

As bad as Japanese death matches sound there are a lot of them that are really good matches with good wrestling that simply use the death match aspects of them to tell a story.
The Megumi Kudo matches blow away nearly any women's match I've seen in the US. She could flat out wrestle with the best of them, male or female.
To be fair also, the Hayabusa - Gannosuke feud is one of the best wrestling feuds of all time.
