It kind of saddens me Coming to America is winning this. "Pork bellies, which is used to make bacon, which you might find in a 'bacon and lettuce and tomato' sandwich."

At least I have the snobby Rotten Tomatoes critics on my side!

Both are awesome movies but Coming to America wins it with Randy Watson and Sexual Chocolate.

Coming to America wins, one of the funniest movies ever. And you picked these 2 movies because of the Duke brothers' cameo in Coming to America didn't you?
Although the best Eddie Murphy movie is Beverly Hills Cop.

It's Trading Places for me. Don't get me wrong, I love Coming to America too, even own a Soul Glo T-shirt. Trading Places and Die Hard are the movies I make sure to watch every Christmas season, and maybe National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation too.

I watched both Back to Back, and honestly......I prefer Coming to America(C2A).
Trading Places(TP) is good, but it's SO.....off. I actually want to blame Dan Ackroyd for it too, mostly because literally EVERYONE else in the cast is pitch perfect. There are times however it seems like they WANTED Steve Martin in the Ackroyd role and wrote it as such. It's not that he's not a good actor, it just seems like he's disingenuous.....Mostly because I can't see him as a slimeball, he comes off too Wholesome/whitebread.
C2A to me "works" better because all the principal characters work well together. Murphy and Arsenio are GOLD, James Earl Jones is basically just doing A Pre-Mufasa....Mufasa, John Amos is gold, Murphy gets to do his now trademark "Play literally every character in the scene" bit.......It's just a "Tighter" movie.

Trading Places is a brilliant film, so that gets my nod. CTA didn't do it for me.
