I am not sure if this is one for the Network section, the main WWE section or the (w)rest section to be honest so apologies if I put it in the wrong place. It's a thread to discuss an idea I had based off the UFC Fight Pass.
UFC are showing live events (not historical) by Invicta Fighting, a women's MMA organisation, that has no affiliation with UFC or Zuffa. They agreed a deal and the Fight Pass shows Invicta shows. This makes you wonder if WWE could, in the future, be willing to host live shows by the likes of ROH and PWG, etc.
They basically promote them on WWE.com when talking about certain wrestlers so the relationship is good enough so.... would be be viable enough to boost subscribers for WWE to ever consider it?
Not to mention if any of those companies ever went out of business, would the ROH, etc. tape library on WWE Network pull in more subscribers?
What do you peeps think?

Never say never but I don't see another active federation, whether they're competition for WWE or not, being given airtime on the Network because WWE clearly wants to only promote one style of wrestling. If it was to happen, I would not have much hope in WWE having a 'hands off' approach, they would want to have some type of creative input. It would be good to see it happen though.
The tape libraries if a company should become inactive, and they are up for sale, should be grabs for the company for sure, whether it be for match compilations or whatever.
I do think that ECW and WCW are now seen by WWE as being extensions of the WWE lineage now.

It won't happen now. If Vince wasn't around, I'd give it a sliver of a chance.

They show WCW stuff, so if WWE and ECW came into owning it, sure, particularly stuff featuring guys who went on to be in WWE or the like. I doubt it'd be with any company that was still alive, in that it'd just be too wooly a licensing situation.

I would love if WWE aired Indy super shows on the network, like PWG's Battle of Los Angeles, CZW's Best of the Best, Chikara's King of Trios, etc. I feel it could bring in some Indy fans who may not want to watch the network, but would love to check out these and other shows.

I think it'd be a great idea and a way for WWE to get more subscribers; the people who don't want to watch the current WWE product but want an easy way to catch ROH or PWG or DGUSA and the like. It'd be amazing to have a network with the entire back catalouge of the WWE and also showing current other promotions.
In addition, it would give a portion of their audience some familiarity with some of these "indy" stars they might not otherwise know until they get to NXT, bringing in a built in fanbase for their new stars.
All that said, nope, it'll never happen.

I don't know that WWE would consider it because the companies that would possibly do it aren't that good one way or another.
PWG cannot happen because a lot of their talent have contracts to others that would stop it. ROH has TV deals, PPV deals and their own website to focus on. WWNLive/Gabe has their own hub they are building on. Chikara doesn't have he production or the management willing to do this plus the talent situation is iffy. CZW would probably take advantage of it but I don't know that WWE would want them given their history.
Right there takes away any company with a fan base to make it worth doing or would even come close to fitting their standard.

I'd like MMA to stay far, far away from my wrestling.

Full shows? Not likely. However- given how much work in some of their products WWE has done with indies- I think that, depending on the type of show or performer, WWE licensing single matches for some of the top indy alumni for WWE Network specials is more likely than it'd seem (so you wouldn't get Final Battle for ROH, but you might be able to see a Bryan Danielson ROH match get used in a WWE Network special.)

Well, that's already happened - ROH clips show up in the Bryan and Shield Network specials.

Some wrestling from 'around the world' would be a plus. Doesn't the WWE have some sort of deal with All Japan? I think that New Japan is working with Jarrett's new promotion, and Mutoh's WRESTLE-1 is with TNA... NOAH is part of the GPWA with ZERO-1, DDT, ROH... the WWE could probably ink a good deal with AJPW and get some interesting content.
How about the UK? Europe? Hell, what about Mexico?

If the WWE Network was a way to watch stuff like ROH and such, people would just bitch and moan that they have to pay for the Network to watch the other feds

What about CMLL? That'd be a great pickup. With their content, WWE could draw in some extra Hispanic subs on the network. I'd say AAA, but they're also supposedly working with GFW.

Honestly, I don't like the idea because it would put those other promotions under WWE's thumb. Like I worry that those companies would have to change to fit a certain standard in order to be showcased on the Network, and it would just be "WWE Presents: <insert promotion name here>". I like the WWE product and would probably watch it before any other wrestling, but I don't like the idea of WWE potentially controlling all wrestling.

Should WWE just outright buy the rights to "Thunder in Paradise?"
