I'm going to experiment sometime this week and possibly set up a FAN tournament. I'd be down if you do.

For the record, this Tournament is only for Wii U users, right?

For the record, this Tournament is only for Wii U users, right? I'm pretty sure it is. Don't think there's a tourney mode for 3DS. If there is, I'll set up one of each though. Will check when I'm home from work tonight.

Honestly Smash Run is like 1000x more fun then that board game which I played like 3 times to get the challenges unlocked and not touched it since. Wish it was more customizable but whatever.

I have both versions so I'm neutral.

I have both versions, and I thought Smash Run was great. The other I barely ever played.
Also, downloaded the N64 levels. Just as fun as they were back before.

I played them because playing a 20-round game basically guaranteed free Crazy Order passes.

Smash Tour is probably much more fun with four people. With the computer you just get ganged up on and it's really irritating.

I think they both suck. Haha.
Also the stages in the 3DS version are WAAAAAAYY better than the Wii U set.

There's a pattern in the console Smash games that the levels have just gotten more and more gimmicky and needlessly elaborate as time went on.
Smash 64: 9 Simple levels, with only the classic Mushroom Kingdom and Saffron City with noticable gimmicks (green pipes with unclear exits, Pokemon popping out) both of which are manageable and pretty cool.
Melee: More complex, but other than the four autoscrollers (Icicle Mountain, Rainbow Cruise, Big Blue, Poke Floats) which are admittedly an acquired taste, everything is pretty simple and even a gimmick like Brinstar Depths' rotation or bombs in Green Greens only really punishes players who don't pay attention or plan ahead.
Brawl: This is where the trouble starts. We got our autoscrollers like Mushroomy Kingdom and Rumble Falls (along with Big Blue and Rainbow Cruise again) but its no more than the last game. Stage hazards however end up all over the place though; Flat Zone 2, Mario Bros, (the awful) 75m, Norfair, Mario Circuit, Pictochat, Warioware, and to a lesser extent Green Hill Zone. Throw in all the platform/effect wackiness (Summit, Distant Planet, Spear Pillar, Frigate Orpheon) and a good level made worse (Mute City into Port Town Aero Dive) and you end up with over third of the stages feeling like a pain in the ass to play on.
4: Better ratio of playable stages compared to Brawl, but still too much stuff that feels gimmicky or would much improved with hazards turned off (looking at you Wily Castle, Pyrosphere, Norfair, Orbital Gate Assault, Gamer). The only reason Gaur Plain is excluded from that list is because at least the stage is big enough to avoid Metal Face. I think it is pretty telling that the range of great stages has improved by having 4 from 64, who's weakest (Peach's Castle) still feels stronger than many of the newer ones. I think it could use maybe two more levels (something from Melee like Fourside or Great Bay and Saffron City from 64) to really round it out.

Truth be told, I don't have a problem with the stages. I just use Omega Mode for all of them, heh.

Yeah, I prefer the 3DS's stage selection too. Wii U has a lot I like but think the 3DS's stage selection is all-around stronger.

I just find too many of the Wii U stages feel too similar. With the 3DS version there does at least seem to be a lot more variety in terms of level styles.

Pretty sure this is fake. An early look into a supposed arcade version:
Crossing out that first part, as many who know better pointed out that Donkey Kong has the wrong name in the video.
