So, it's come out now that the stages we know are the entirety of them. I'm... Pretty disappointed by that, mostly because I don't really think very many of the new stages look any good. And I don't get why we needed stuff like three versions of Isle Delfino or Onett coming back yet again when no one really seems to like it. Yeah, the list is rather ho-hum. And I like how Flat Zone X is Flat Zone 2 with one more phase (the original Flat Zone). Real creative.

Sakurai has stated in an interview released today that he has no plans on paid DLC at the moment. Almost immediately, most people either deemed it "The End! Ha Ha!" or cursed Sakurai for depriving them of their Wolf.
In actuality, he commented on how he and the staff are worn out and, while appreciative of the talks, isn't going to start work right away on future add-ons. He is most likely aware of the monetary windfall that can and will happen, but he also might be peeved about the fact that we are talking about the future even before the actual game is made available.
But, he also hates getting blamed for raising expectations and prefers to do these before showing off new material.
But, frankly, this might be the best, as they would hopefully explore fan responses and comments in deciding which rout to go with DLC (loads of fighters, or a select few? All veterans, all newcomers, or a mic? Popular requests or product tie-ins?).
If anyone wants to link the article, I'd appreciate it.

That said, I hope it's something they eventually look into.

Give it about four or five months and I'm confident they'll have announced some DLC, probably on a Mario Kart-ish schedule. No chance Nintendo's letting them go without doing it at all and Sakurai's said in the past that he's open to the idea.

I could hold off on character DLC if they offered up some more stages first. The selection as is strikes me as a tad underwelming and I'd like to believe stage design and production is a little easier that character work.

Honestly, between the pitiful stage selection and the Ice Climbers thing, I'm pretty firmly on the, "They shouldn't have made the 3DS version because it limited the Wii U one," side of the fence.

The thing to me is that Nintendo and/or Sakurai seemed to believe that there would be tremendous backlash if the two were not the same, despite that everyone besides the most anal retentive and perpetually unsatisfied would have understood that different systems with different levels of power are going to be contrasting. I don't really recall a lot of outrage that Super Mario 3D World was multi-player and that 3D Land was only single player, even though they're the exact style game and came out within two years of each other after all. It would be like insisting that a graphic novel and a literary book have the exact same plot down to the line despite the latter being much more fitting for broader details.

In general, I get this sense that Sakurai's head is very far up his own ass and he really only makes games with himself in mind rather than consumers.

If that's the case, I wish more developers were like that, given his output.

So if you want Mewtwo but don't have the dough for both a Wii U and a 3DS, you can wait to purchase him

That was kind of implied in the announcement from what I remember.

I don't care if it's from the developer or not, it's still a moronic argument no matter how many times I hear it, and I'd rather be able to use Ridley than have him keep his sense of menace. Though it doesn't really matter, he said similar things about Villager not working after Brawl and look where we are now. Either way I do really think it's time Nintendo either handed the series off to somebody else or at the very least stopped giving him free-reign. Anyway, stuck waiting for tomorrow or so on the game, can't pick it up until then. Same for Pokemon so I'm going kind of stir-crazy right now.

I'm not a fan of the argument, but I do get tired of the "Will He or Won't He?" arguments. I'm still cheesed at how my favorite RPG franchise can be leapfrogged and ignored, so it would be nice to see a change of director for the next installment. Also, this is a surprise, but Rayman has THREE trohpies (Rayman, Globox, and Barbara from "Legends").

I have to say, as someone who found many of the fighters in Brawl awkward to play as because of that game felt off, I've been loving every fighter I've come across thus far in 4. Mega Man in particular is tremendous to play as.

People sure do seem to love making penis-themed stages with the builder.

Played the game with some friends last night, and it was a lot of fun. If I were to complain about something though, it'd be that I don't like how you can only use the 3DS as a controller in Smash mode and none of the single player stuff.

Haven't tried it myself, but many are praising how good the online is. That's a huge plus considering how bad it was for Brawl.
Also, if you have a Wii U, Vyse2487 is my name to add for friend lists.
