This is not cool. How does being a good wrestler qualify you to write a comic book? Same way writing a bunch of movies full of dick and fart jokes does - he's a celebrity. They've got enough room for a fan to try writing a GD comic, so calm the eff down.

"There is are no (Nordic) God(s), and that cage wasn't thirty feet."
Well I am not gonna be naive and say that Punk got this 100% on merit as I'm sure some factors like being famous from WWE and courting the nerd audience through con appearences, appearences on the Nerdist podcast and Talking Dead and whatever previously friendships/connections he had in the industry gave Punk an edge over anyone as qualified if not more so than him. But I doubt this exactly fell from the sky into his lap. I would like to think he would have to submit some sort of spec script to show that he knows what he's doing.

So... is he gonna write the female Thor or is it like Wolverine and he's got like five hundred different comics set in their own canon?

He's writing a story dealing with the Thor we know, set in the same time and continuity as the female Thor (they will both exist concurrently). A part of his story will apparently be set when Thor was a kid and part set in the now.

Not gonna lie, this pisses me off. I've been a huge Thor fan for years and it would be an absolute dream come true to write a one shot for the character one day. Pure jealousy on my part, no denying that. Still pissed though.

I almost hope he just uses it as a medium to shit on as many random people as he can, making it known he sees himself as so far above the rest of us great unwashed plebes...
He has whoever he's writing for just start punching out random airport people for invading his privacy, kicking social media junkies in the nuts for disagreeing with him, etc...

This is not cool. How does being a good wrestler qualify you to write a comic book? It's really more about advertising - they'll probably get a few more sales from wrestling fans. And if it sucks they can just edit the crap out of it.

Rob Guillory doing the artwork for a Thor comic moves this past novelty into something that'll actually be worth reading.

Okay, who wants to be the first to send emails saying "AJ LEE! AJ LEE!" in support of this story?

Cool beans!
I'm getting back into comics after a short break, so I'll be looking forward to this.

Interesting. I usually stay away from annuals (they used to be 'must buy' but now they end up costing too much), but I may pick this up.
There have been a lot of celebrities that have written comics... Tyrese Gibson, Rosario Dawson, Patton Oswalt, Seth Meyers, Thomas Jane, Scott Ian, Guy Ritchie...

Still hope he does a Thing story eventually, but who knows when that'll be, since it seems like they're shelving the FF. Definitely going to check this out.

Rob Guillory doing the artwork for a Thor comic moves this past novelty into something that'll actually be worth reading. At first I was like "Pfft, I don't even like CM Punk as a wrestler, I ain't readin' no Thor comic by that putz." Then I saw Guillory was drawing it and was like "Ah, probably going to be a contender for One-Shot of the Year. I simply must pick this up!"
