Pretty cool.
What if we have the next Joss Whedon on our hands?

This is not cool. How does being a good wrestler qualify you to write a comic book?

This is not cool. How does being a good wrestler qualify you to write a comic book? Punk is an avowed comic book fan. That's why he got this chance.

punks friendship with Brian Azzarello and Jill Thompson I say would qualify him for this at least perhaps one of them got his foot in the door, plus hes a huge comic book fan anyway. he could do some good work i feel.

I see Thor getting squashed by a fan-loved superhero who marry Squirrel Girl at the end.

He'll just write himself in so he can finally get busy with Lady Sif.

Precisely, let's not pretend this is a world where the best people get the jobs that fit their well honed skills perfectly as that's very rare. Like every other job it's networking, and if you're a name in some regard that could sell more issues, you're getting in ahead of any established skilled writer. Will be fun to see what he comes up with the guidance he's been given so far.

This is not cool. How does being a good wrestler qualify you to write a comic book? It's a one-shot annual. Nothing wrong with that. Now if they bypassed other comic writers and gave him an ongoing, with nothing on his resume other than his name value in another business to support it, then it's not cool. And it's illustrated by Rob (CHEW) Guillory, no less - making this his first Marvel comic, too. Impressive. (He also says he's friends with Jason Aaron, who's writing THOR and has been for a while - that helped too, I reckon.)

Punk's Thor will stop in the middle of the issue to shoot on Marvel pushing Deadpool and then quit the Marvel Universe.

Ok the only other wrestler who wrote comics where Raven (with Brian Azzarello an issue of Tangled Web) and Chris Daniels (aw yeah! Comics) both were about wrestling and very good stories at that, I wonder if punk's story is also gonna be about wrestling... Oh yeah I forgot about Jerry Lawler also being an awesome artist, I think he almost drew an issue of Superman at one point.

Punk and The Thing finally battle over "Clobberin' Time" in a future Fantastic Four issue.

It sounds like he wants to do a continuation of the Young Thor story from the God-Butcher arc, which I'm cool with because that was my favorite part.

This is not cool. How does being a good wrestler qualify you to write a comic book? He may be an excellent writer. We haven't seen what he can do, but that doesn't mean that management and execs haven't seen samples of his material.

It's not he's the first wrestler to write a story for Marvel. Raven did one for Spider-Man which the critics liked.
