Got this on accidentally visiting Inside Pulse which is for some reason in my history. Caught my eye so thought I'd post it here for people to joke about.
According to rumors this woman's retired more times than Terry Funk.

It seems like any time she's without the title for a long period of time or isn't featured or could very well drop the title, rumours of her leaving start popping up.
Who knows, maybe this time is correct, but I'm in boy who cried wolf territory with that newz.

When you feel obligated to point out how wrong you've been before and have to throw in a bunch of caveats...
Yeah, maybe don't run the story.

I don't know how AJ had the time to have twins and to retire 3 times and always appear the shows and ppvs.
impressive.

It's about time NEWZ had a reoccurring story. I remember all the Batista maybe retiring Rumours from 2007-2010 and got so excited when they called it in 2010

Only tangentially related, but I like the idea of top performers taking extended leaves of absence.
If they don't absolutely NEED the money, taking time off and leaving some space for other people to grow and move up the card would be good for the show overall.
I know WWE thinks they'd lose money over it, but I think it would benefit them in the long run.

Also... is it me or is 'confirmed rumor' an oxymoron?

When you feel obligated to point out how wrong you've been before and have to throw in a bunch of caveats... Yeah, maybe don't run the story. Thing is, if she does leave and they've heard talk of it ahead of time, they'll look out of the loop if they didn't report it. It's classic covering-all-bases journalism. 'We heard this will happen, however, it might not, cos we've heard it talked about before and it didn't. But if it does, don't be surprised. You heard it here first.' The only way it hurts them is it suggests their sources are pretty far from the thick of things if something as big as a fairly major name leaving the company in the next few weeks can't be reported with any degree of certainty. Presumably management is aware what AJ's plans are, not to mention the other Divas, and any of her other friends in the company. I don't see why her dropping the belt means she's definitely gonna leave or is being phased out though. That'd be like if people took Cena losing at Summerslam as a sign his departure was imminent. I'd like to see her take a back seat, maybe team with an NXT girl who gets called up, put a few people over, just depends whether she thinks that'd be worth spending time away from her new husband who she must barely see. I wouldn't miss her in her current role if she left, and based on how sad and jaded she looks out there at times I'm not sure she'd be too choked up about leaving. She probably feels there's nothing left for her to do that they'd allow a Diva to do, and she's probably right.

You know what, I kind of want it to be true. AJ really went sour ever since becoming GM of Raw, but it's been cemented now that she's booked like the John Cena of the women's division: extremely boring. Yeah, she's pretty and crazy or whatever, but her schtick is old and there are better women in NXT and the main roster. I don't see her ever leaving the title picture while being on the roster, so there seems to be only one way to freshen things up then.I agree. She reminds me of Melina in that she looked out of place when she wasn't in the title picture, either as Divas/Women's champion or a challenger.

The wrestling sites couldn't even speak out about AJ's 'pregnancy' for fear of being wrong. They couldn't even shoot down a random guy on Reddit. It's more like 'just say shit so people will subscribe' journalism.

sorry can;t buy this rumor. everyone knows any "AJ retiring" rumor MUST be accompanied with the rumor that she's pregnant as well.

While the top dirt sheets no doubt have sources within the industry, it's pretty obvious at this point none of said sources have any idea what's going on with Mr and Mrs Punk.

Not to mention how in June before she came back Meltzer was all 'I dunno where she is, she was supposed to be back weeks ago and I've not heard anything since' when she'd only gotten married ten days before and had been pictured during that week on her honeymoon, then she showed up on Raw the Monday after. They did pretty quickly confirm the wedding rumours though. Bizarre how they can be right on the button with some stuff but hilariously out of the loop with others, guess it depends who they manage to speak to and when.
