Well obviously not everyone's but TV Guide did name Cliff Huxtible the greatest TV dad of all time a few years ago. Carl Winslow and Philip Banks were better human beings than Cliff anyway. I don't know about that. Carl Winslow let Steve Urkel harass his daughter and wreck all his shit. When what he should have done as a cop was blow his head off on sight for breaking and entering. Philip Banks was so blind he didn't realize his awesome dark skin wife was replaced by a sorry light skin woman.

Note: I preferred the looks of the second wife, not because of skin color, but because she was petite. I like me some petite women. I even married one.

So, on a lighter note, i suppose the "That's the DUMBEST thing i've ever heard" autoresponse is no more, right? At least we still have "laugh harder".

All these women with very similar stories can't all be lying. I highly doubt there's a grand conspiracy to frame good, old Bill Cosby and ruin his career to make money. There is plenty of stories of his creepy over the years. He was powerful and famous and no doubt knew how to get away with it. Not to go on on feminist rant or anything but rape is still the one crime where as a victim you need to prove your innocence. Women who've been raped and try to get justice for it, they wind up having to defend themselves and their lifestyle in the court of law. If you are drunk and/or dressed provocatively, people still believe you were asking for it. Also men's attitude about rape and/or sexual assault is frightening. I work as a nurse and that alone seems to mean that I have to put up with lewd comments, people grabbing my ass or other forms of sexual harassment to just do my job. If half the harassment I get was aimed at men, there would be endless lawsuits. The culture still is that you have to put up with it since it's something men just do. Can't be lying? Nah. Probably not lying? Sure. I'm highly suspicious of Bill Cosby here. I think that based on the testimony, it is pretty likely that he did what he is being accused of. But because the only compelling information we have thus far is testimony, I don't want to definitively judge him. On the other hand, the whole thing reeks of him committing what it's said he did. If none of it is true, then this is one of the most brilliant smear campaigns ever constructed. And I kind of doubt that being the case.

I've been having a good laugh at the idea that all of this is somehow some kind of conspiracy against him because of his pontificating about how black kids act. People will believe any old bullshit to keep from facing the truth.
A lot of the hesitancy against condemning him is clearly coming from the fact that a whole generation of people found him as some kind of role model and so there's no way he did what he did. He's Cliff Huxtable, dammit!
That kind of hero worship of celebrities gets under my skin very quickly. Especially when it becomes an excuse to defend them after they commit some of the worst crimes imaginable.

Cliff Huxtable should never have been a role model for anyone
Keep in mind, it was merely Bill Cosby booking himself to look good.

I just can't imagine all these people just decided we're gonna gang up and ruin Bill Cosby's career when he's damn near 80. That's just not reasonable IMO. What's "unreasonable" is how far The Man will go take Bill Cosby down!

Going to do my usual response and withhold comment until a verdict or a confession is made. ...Again: there won't be a verdict, because the statute of limitations is up. There won't even be a lawsuit. Cosby hasn't been, and cannot be, arrested based on the accusations made thus far. Guys, I'm serious, please stop making people repeat this. Just read the thread.

Ah, my bad, I missed this. So there's literally no way of determining if this is true or not unless Cosby confesses (which I doubt he ever will)? So this isn't even an issue yet, there's literally no reason to bring this up aside from news and gossip unless a recent case comes up. I forgot about the US having a statue of limitations on sexual crimes, as there's been a bunch of historic rape cases here in the UK that has gone to trial.

Cosby should just keep working. Don't cancel anything. That just fans the flames. He'll still have an audience for stand up, even if the proposed TV projects don't happen.

This is why it's important that these stories get out there: rainn.org/news-room/cosby-allegations-lead-to-hotline-spike?utm_source=RAINNews+November+2014+Test+A+WINNER&utm_campaign=November+2014+Newsletter+Test+A+WINNER&utm_medium=emailCosby Allegations Lead to Spike in Hotline Use (November 24, 2014) -- At least 17 women have publicly accused comedian Bill Cosby of sexually assaulting them, with 12 of those also alleging that he used drugs to incapacitate them. The national publicity about the allegations has led to a 50% increase in usage of the National Sexual Assault Hotline, according to Katherine Hull Fliflet, RAINN’s vice president for communications. The women’s accusations range from the 1960s to 2004, and from Los Angeles to Denver to New York City, but they follow a similar pattern: Young women who were trying to make it in Hollywood were wooed by Cosby’s fame and power, and then allegedly manipulated, often drugged and then assaulted. “[He] won my trust as a 17-year-old aspiring actress in 1985, brainwashed me into viewing him as a father figure, and then assaulted me multiple times,” Barbara Bowman wrote in the Washington Post. After the attention that Bowman’s story received, former comedian and actress Joan Tarshis wrote about how Cosby had similarly befriended her, introduced her to celebrities with the promise of helping her make it big, and then gave her alcohol and pills before assaulting her at his home. The Washington Post interviewed five of the women, and reported on “court records that shed light on the accusations of a former director of women’s basketball operations at Temple University who assembled 13 ‘Jane Doe’ accusers in 2005 to testify on her behalf about their allegations against Cosby.” Cosby denies the allegations. Many sexual assault survivors found the women’s stories familiar. “Hearing from someone who has survived a similar experience can be incredibly encouraging to those who have yet to come forward,” said Fliflet. Last week, after learning that NBC and Netflix had canceled upcoming Cosby projects, RAINN released a statement from Fliflet: “We appreciate that NBC and Netflix have taken these allegations seriously and think that they've made the responsible choice by canceling these shows. The coverage of the Bill Cosby story has already led to a significant increase in the number of survivors reaching out for help through the National Sexual Assault Hotline.” If you or someone you know has been affected by sexual violence, it’s not your fault. You are not alone. Help is available 24/7 through the National Sexual Assault Hotline: 800-656-HOPE and online.rainn.org.

I forgot about the US having a statue of limitations on sexual crimes, as there's been a bunch of historic rape cases here in the UK that has gone to trial. Well, there's plenty of reasons to talk about it, though I fear many have and will use it simply to have more celebrity gossip. Thing is, it's good to show victims coming forward; particularly in the case of rape, victims tend to underreport like mad due to fear of backlash against them. Nobody's proven Cosby's guilt, obviously, but the overwhelming amount of evidence seems to be against him. It's important to make it clear that being a star/celebrity/public figure doesn't make one invincible, and that nobody should have to fear coming forward when they've been wronged in such a way. Obviously if the guy is innocent then it's quite a different story, but again, the odds of that being the case just keep getting slimmer every day.
