Talking about main eventers for places like WWE and WCW. Not the indies.
Just thinking about Hulk Hogan and Bret Hart. My top two favorites, but dudes with gigantic ego. It's tough to blame them given how much they accomplished so it got me thinking who really are the most modest main eventers.

Bob Backlund. By today's standards his promos were boring, but he drew large crowds at MSG and other arenas. He was the ordinary man who was a great athlete and had to overcome great odds. In other words, he was Cena without the charisma.

Actually, his contemporaries would make the point that Backlund couldn't draw dick.
But yeah, he was a pretty humble man.

Perhaps not the MOST modest but Undertaker has always seemed pretty humble. Mick Foley?

Cena, in a way. We now have this accepted idea that he's not a draw and can't wrestle, neither of which is true

I've yet to hear anything notably bad about Ricky Steamboat or Terry Funk.

Another argument that is made is that the semi-mains were sometimes stacked to help draw. I haven't looked at the cards, so I'm not sure. I've always thought that Backlund gets a bit of a bad rep due to being between Bruno and Hogan.

There's no way that Backlund didn't draw, considering how long he was the main event guy for WWE.

Foley humble....nah. His down to earth real guy Schtick was exactly that. The pretentiousness express picked him up and he apparently believe I should follow his political leanings and that shooting on presidents mid RAW promo is somehow must see TV. He puts himself over in his books and on every interview I've seen him in since he retired. Is he more humble than say Flair, hogan, Hart? Yep. But his apparent belief in his politics and his desire to share them, was a real turn off for me.
Humble wrestlers huh...Bret. Hart is. Just ask him. He'll tell you

The thing with Foley is his whole look and aura make him seen humble, but if you've ever read his books his clearly a big fan of himself. Again, not saying it's bad as he accomplished a lot, but I wouldn't exactly call him humble. Sting, I think subconsciously is what made me think of making this thread. Bob Backlund, Terry Funk and Ricky Steamboat all seem like good answers. I think the jury is still out on Bryan as he is really in the middle of things and hasn't had a chance to fully get swept up in the ego trip of being a main eventer. He does seem pretty down to earth though.

He earned the name when The Iron Sheik humbled him. Old country way.
