Meanwhile, Kenny King is setting black folk back by 10 years every time he opens his mouth on Impact.

Kinda silly gimmick but I'll take happy black man over angry black man. Since those seem to be the only gimmicks the writers are comfortable writing, cause barely anybody in entertainment can write a black character without them being the angry, hardboiled guy or some happy go lucky smiling type. Well, do you trust them to write a black nerd character without it being just like Urkel?

I'd prefer the heel turn; but honestly if it gives those three something to do on a regular basis I'm ok with it.

The guys need some edge to them. There's something between angry black man mac militant and please please love us because we're happy and having a good time. They remind me of a bad stand-up comedian that you can tell doesn't have their own identity, but instead they're trying to say things they think people might find funny. There's a big difference there. And you know, that really could be the point. The idea for this gimmick could be that they're completely manufactured, smiling and all whitebread to the point they stand firmly inside the Bo-Dallas Uncanny Valley. And once the time for playing the gimmick straight runs out, what the gimmick was really supposed to be about will bubble to the surface but that's still a lot of trust to put into a brand that we know generally can't be trusted with handling things long-term. Especially in this context. Then too, how long will it take before they get to that point of gimmick change? You mean I'd have to watch them trudge on with this shit I don't want to watch for 3 weeks? 1 month? 4 months? Nah, dude. Again, that takes a kind of trust in the way they book and they still haven't earned that shit.

It's a new day. But is it a new generation? It was gonna be; Punk f***ed it up for everyone.

I wouldn't give them any characters. Just make them a group who can be relied upon for some fan pleasing matches with a few high spots and power moves.
That's all they need to be.

Flipping the switch and making his act darker and disingenous made all the difference in the world. I don't know if they planned that or if they realized the whole thing was bombing, but we could see something similar for the New Day. It's just, can they stay relevant in the mean time, or will they add some different wrinkles to their act to make them legitimately interesting.

You know what's sad? I didn't know until now that New Day was a wrestling thing. I saw bits and pieces of the promos, but never really paid attention. I just assumed it was some new movie or whatnot that advertised on SmackDown a lot.

After reading this thread, I can see why minorities say there's racism in wrestling. Just saying. I can't tell what point you're getting at here, but I really hope it's not as ignorant as I'm thinking it may be.

The New Day as advertised looks like a great stable that would allow Kofi and Big E to show character, emote, and everything else the internet has been asking of them. If it ends up being some serious Malcolm X bullshit I have no interest.

Nah, Kofi does that already by himself. In fact he's been doing it since 2008. This is his first stable, so if nothing else, it's time for something a little different from him.

I think Titus would be better than Big E.
Big E deserves a bigger spotlight.

I'm cool with them being faces because I feel like there are too many heels that don't do anything as it is.

They really need to have them spout rhetoric about the power of friendship and positivity and all this other super corny shit in the most patronising way possible. It would make me giggle.

I adored their debut.
They were so impressive in the ring and have a lot of energy thats missing in WWE.
As long as they tone down the cheesiness I can see this lasting a bit. As mentioned by previous posters, the lack of other three man teams is kind of concerning though.
I`m a chocolate man by the way.

Yeah, I hope it's not as ignorant as people in the thread calling it RACIST and/or claiming it's a "stereotype" gimmick.

Snap judgement time? It's awful. If it turns out to be something more, then great. But right now it could potentially be annoying as f***. Imagine seeing that shit twice a week. They look like absolute morons.
