I'm not a die-hard MMA guy or anything, but I watch with my pals from time to time and I am most certainly going to watch Punk's UFC debut when it happens. I don't think he's gonna do great, it feels familiar to when Kimbo Slice was brought in, it'll be entertaining for a while, he won't be as bad as people expect but he won't be that good. I hope for the best, I hope he kills it, if Brock and CM Punk are both successful in UFC at the same time that would be the most surreal thing (as if Punk wrestling for world championships in WWE wasn't weird enough).

Just saw this picture. It appears Punk's hairline is quitting and going home as well.

You know what's kind of funny about this? All the threads going "But he trains with the Gracie's!" Dude's, it's 2014. The Gracie's are HORRIBLE now. They're marketing geniuses, but they aren't even training the top jiu jitsu guys in the world anymore. They don't have anyone significant doing top level MMA training mostly with them. Anyone who does train with them trains majorly somewhere else and has them pop in and supplement them. The Gracie's are far from legit in 2014. For real. This has been in the back of my mind since the start of this whole thing.

AJ doesn't approve of it and to go along with it neither do it. Guys have fought for years to get to the big leagues and Punk uses his ties and pops right in there. Who cares if he fights veterans or jobbers? That's really not the point of the thing and honestly it's only thrown in there for buyrates. I really hope Punk gets his ass kicked. I'm a fan of the guy but the idea he does something like this is annoying to me. He can go to Marvel and it's fine, he can do music and it's ok, I don't even care if Punk goes to TNA or any other wrestling promotion. UFC though? Just like that? Come on now. It's more eyes on the UFC and I don't think CM Punk is really altering any destinies by fighting in the UFC, he's not really taking anyone's spot, it's not like pro wrestling where you can just plug Punk in the main event, if Punk is a shit fighter he's not gonna be there long.

Ufc and cm punk just made an ass load of cash I'm a causal ufc fan if that I know I'll be buying it. You can count on a bunch of wrestking fans, from hardcore to casuals will want to see punk fight. Whether Wwe likes it or not ufc is competion And this is a big jump. Basically this. I loathe MMA and 95% of its core audience, but I'll be watching. Dana White is no fool. Punk's fanbase will watch, UFC hardcores will watch to see the "fake fighter" get beaten, and the casuals on both side will be attracted by the publicity.

The only way this can get better is if they go and sign Miz and we finally get that Miz Punk feud we were promised over two years ago. OHHHHHHHHH! Then Miz loses his freaking shit and goes crazy on Punk, haha. Seriously though this is hilarious Punk is walking into the UFC even if it is against Batista level opponents its not going to end well, he's a beat up old man (sporys wise) with glaring weak spots (noted injuries in joints) who's training is basically higher level jujitsu in his spare time.

Cmon, your last comment is such an insult to anyone thats criticizing this. Dana is also a salesman first and foremost. A guy in UFC at no record or little to no record still will have MUCH more experience than Punk. You don't just start fighting UFC like it was back when it was truly niche and not wholly popular. Punk hasn't had a fight at any level. Guys in UFC already have fought in other places. Punk even admitted in his interview (its on MMAJunkie) when someone asked him why he didn't take a fight with another organization to test his skills instead of jumping head first into the UFC. He stated that Dana told him the money was with his first fight. They basically admitted this was a publicity stunt. He's going to the top MMA organization in the world with no fights under his belt. There's no getting around this.

So Punk will moan endlessly about guys taking top spots in WWE who have no business being there, but will gladly stampede over legit fighters to get top billing on a UFC PPV? Either Hes exceedingly brave or hes a stupid hypocrite. Either way the only winner here is Dana White. He might get massacred in UFC. The difference is Punk will be actually fighting those journeyman fighters. He isn't coming into UFC to be slotted into a "dream match" with GSP where they verbally fellate each other on and off for three years or anything like that.

A journeyman UFC fighter still has a shitload more experience than Punk and unquestionably has had some success somewhere. Its not Batista fighting for "Joe's MMA Club" or Lashley with MFA.

I thought this one from Wade Keller was funny'
"Philadelphia 76ers announce slightly outbid by UFC to make Punk - a summer league b-baller - their back-up SF to help attendance this year."

I think the sad thing is, I'd absolutely watch CM Punk doing absolutely anything. I'd tune in to watch CM Punk: Professional Golfer any day.

I'll tell you what, I could care less about MMA, in fact I almost hate MMA, but this will get me to watch at least that match.

I love CM Punk, I honestly do. He's one of my favorites. But for some reason, after everything that's happened in 2014...maybe it's the podcast, maybe it's the way he left, maybe it's just the animalistic nature of being a fan of any sort of "fighting" sport...but I have this urge for some reason to really see him get his ass kicked in the UFC. I don't know what it is. Like, I support him and alot of the reasons he left WWE. But part of me can't help but feel like that shunned fan that's upset that he left "my" company and is now going to go to the UFC.
I've also been drinking for about 8 hours but that's totally beside the point.
Either way, I guess that's the draw they kind of want from us straight up wrestling fans. Because I can honestly say that no matter the outcomes, this will be the first time I'm paying attention to and watching UFC since Lesnar's early days.

Ok the guy is barely a blue belt, hasn't competed in striking, hasn't even grappled in tournaments, has two bad knees, and wants to fight with professional athletes, great at jiu jitsu and con decorated wrestlers....he's gonna get his f***ing head kick in. Good for him for following his dreams, but dude, at least fight with guys you're gonna be evenly match, have amateur fights.
CM Punk would need to be at middleweight, he hasn't even cut weight before, I don't think he knows what he's getting himself into.
