I remember an article talking about how PG rating was very undesirable. It's not family enough for parents and it seems to kiddy for older children. Would anyone object to a PG-13 Sonic? Was there someone hoping for R? NC-17?

That's interesting. Are they already abandoning Sonic Boom and are going to go for something more edgy to get the franchise going again? I would not blame them at this point.

As for the idea of a R/NC-17 Sonic movie, just go to a fan fiction site and I'm sure you'll find plenty of scripts.

Well...Sonic is naked. Be happy they got off with just PG-13.

This is ridiculous. If you aren't willing to go all out because you're too scared to an R rating, then let someone else make the movie. I really think its making it harder then PG and not toning it down from an R rating... what ever that would be for a Sonic movie

If it means maybe a detailed roboticization sequence, or a light-hearted but still kinda edgy tone like Guardians Of The Galaxy, then bring it on.
Also, how come Retro always has to start Sonic threads long before I'm able to get inside them quickly and set things straight before people start hating?

Well you weren't standing in front of a brick wall how should I have known? And it wasn't preceded by commenting how men always leave the toilet seat up. Anyhow, this sounds really stupid. As "edgy" as Sonic looked in the 1990s, that was more of a byproduct of society leaning more towards extremism in their advertisements and entertainment. He was fast, and he appeared to have attitude, which spawned a series of knockoff cartoon animal mascots with their own games. That is what got him over and what made him popular. But, if there's a representation of how screwed up a franchise can get, Sonic is the most notable case, as well.

If it means a return to SatAM style Sonic (and, more specifically, SatAM style Robotnik), I'm all for it. Not holding my breath, but it's a great model if they want to be make Sonic's world feel more intense/threatening/somewhat scary without going uber-dark or BS-dark like Shadow.

I've quite enjoyed the Sonic Boom Cartoons
It's nice to see the Sonic Franchise not take itself super doper seriously for once.
As far as a Movie goes, I think it will either be really good or God awful...Hopefully the former
I don't think there will be any "Eh it was ok" here.

I'd go apeshit if Sega teamed up with Disney for a Sonic movie, TBH. Ideally I'd like the tone to be something along the lines of Big Hero 6, where there's plenty of funny moments, but the heroes still have their backs to the wall.

Wishful thinking: a grungy 90s period piece (taking place in 1991 perhaps?).
