Does anybody ever remember Batista using a lariat for a finisher very early during his run on WWE TV? Somebody I know insists that he used a running lariat during his early Deacon period. It got me thinking about other wrestlers that used a finisher early in their career then completely dropped it soon after. The most notable example I could think of was Edge dropping the Downward Spiral soon after teaming with Christian. As for some one time only finishers, how about that phase The Undertaker went through of using a Dragon Sleeper and later a Triangle Choke?
Can you think of any others?
(I don't necessarily mean a guy using a finisher in the indies then not using it in WWE, like CM Punk and the Pepsi Plunge.)

Also, didn't Hogan do a back breaker for his first couple of matches?

I'm still positive he dropped that because of the terrible name it was given John Morrison had a few he won with a running knee to a seated opponent a few times and it seemed like it was being setup as a new impact finisher for him... but then it was dropped. Also The Moonlight Drive/THAT corkscrew neckbreaker I don't remember him using it with much regularity especially after he started using the split legged moonsault.

Sid Vicious used that crucifix airplane spin drop move before he started using the powerbomb.

HHH used a Diamond Cutter before the Pedigree called the Pedigree Pandemonium
Kevin Nash as Diesel used a Right Hand Punch, Spinning Side Slam or a Back Breaker before the Jackknife
How about Austin with the Million $ Dream before the Stunner

123 Kid beat Jeff Hardy with a weird Indian Deathlock move.

Nash incorporated those moves into his regular moveset and Austin would sometimes throw out the Million Dollar Dream when he was "desperate" against Kurt Angle or Bret Hart etc. I remember The Rock used a scoopslam-shoulder breaker move on Goldust in his first match and Chris Jericho started using that Full Nelson Facebuster in 2001.

Togi Makabe was using the Prison Lock in the 2008 G1 Climax and then only. I remember he made Tanahashi tap out to it.

Does anybody ever remember Batista using a lariat for a finisher very early during his run on WWE TV? I do. There was a short period in 2004 where he was feuding with Jericho and was knocking people out with it. But it only lasted around bs a month or so. As for others, Orton originally had the Overdrive and Diving Crossbody as finishers which seems bizarre today. Also Rock had a Shoulderbreaker as one of his early finishers, which was about as popular as you can imagine.

Fairs do's. I'm lost here, if I got it wrong with Austin & Nash because they used those moves regularly after, Batista still used a lariat & Piper the bulldog as regular moves after spells of using them as a finisher Yeah, The Rock's first finisher was a shoulder breaker, scored him a couple of eliminations at SS 1996

The Great Muta in WCW would use either spinning kicks or different submissions moves to beat his opponents before he settled on The Moonsault

Wasn't really a one timer but HBK did a side suplex before SCM And the piledriver in between. As did Bret when he wrestled singles at first. Two words: ATOMIC NOOGIE.

Anyone remember The Mizard of Oz?
It was one of those moves that was always in the video games, despite the fact that he quickly moved onto the Reality Check and then eventually the Skull Crushing Finale.

It's still in the games... and I only remember him doing it like once on the main roster. Though it was apparently his indy and developmental finisher.
