I honestly think the powers that be realized they made a mistake (in their minds) last year by giving in to the crowds and letting Bryan win. It's not like he spiked ratings or increased sub #s. This year they are doing what they want and you can like it or not, but all the booing and whining online won't change things this time. Right or wrong, I think that's how they feel. Uh, yeah, he did. Mania was the most watched it's ever been and his segments leading into Mania were bringing in the best ratings Raw had been doing in ages on a weekly basis.

without Brock/Cena/Rollins, this would have been the worst WWE PPV ever Oh then you obviously weren't around in the IYH days and haven't seen December To Dismember. Even removing the title match that's just far from the truth. I have to agree with roid here, Cornfed. Without the title match the show was 1) a tag title match that, while decent, we've seen a dozen times before 2) Natalie vs both Bellas and 3) The Ascension vs The Outlaws. Say what you want about the drizzling pile of shit that was December to Dismember, but it's 20+ min Hardys/MNM match puts it just barely above what I saw tonight. That is if you leave off Brock/Cena/Rollins of course.

This basically sums up the booking of the Rumble match:

I keep forgetting about the awesome triple threat :/ I keep remembering only to forget it in a rage due to a Good Looking Samoan with a Blood Stained "Duuuuh" grin.

That $9.99 feels so good still being in my bank account. I win! If you had told me a few years ago that I would feel the exact same way I would have been shocked since in year's past that would have been a fantastic deal. Thing is, they have gone completely tone-deaf to what their fans want and will start feeling the financial crunch because of it. How bad is it? I watched the WWE faithfully from 1985 to about this time last year. That means I stuck it out through a lot of underwhelming crap and this past year was enough to turn me completely off. Last month I decided to give them another shot and watched an episode of Raw and it was worse than any other wrestling show I recall watching. I used to watch the USWA. Obviously, the production values were better but storylinewise it was better (and the USWA got pretty boring in the 90's). Reigns winning the Rumble has been predicted for the last 8 Months so no one is in shock here. The problem is that this was the worst booked Rumble in history. Big Show and Kane in the final three in 2015? Bryan getting eliminated in the middle of the rumble (Has a favorite ever been eliminated this quick btw?). Also the finish with Rusev: "HEY GUYS RUSEV HAS NOT BEEN ELIMINATED....:NOW HE IS ELIMINATED". I was laughing through the whole Rumble. The Triple Threat was MOTY Candidate already but the rest sucked. Obviously, Rusev missed his cue to get eliminated. That reminds me of another time someone missed a cue and, like that other time, they accidentally teased something awesome only to yank it away and give the fans something shitty that next to no one wanted instead. Tell me Rusev would not have suddenly become your favorite if he had snuck in and tossed out Reigns while he was trying to fend off Show and Kane. What was the other time? Sandman missed his cue to leave the ring when they revealed the bastard son of McMahon. Having Sandman as the bastard son and doing skit after skit with Vince would have been amazing, especially since what they did instead was a terrible and long gimmick with Hornswaggle as the bastard son. Having to sit through that was about as bad as having to take a long bus ride home from a party wearing a pair of pants that you unloaded a full fledged whiskey shart into.

Boohoo your favorite wrestler didn't win the rumble. I hate how people complain that wrestling is too predictable then as soon as something different happens they wine. Most sports fans don't want a certain team to win a championship. That doesn't mean that that certain team has to lose the big game. Do you not remember when a young up and comer named Rocky Maivia won the IC title even though he was the least over baby face in the company at time and fans booed him out of the building. Now everyone screams atop of their lungs when he returns. There's an old saying from general managers in pro sports. If you keep listening to the people in the seats you could end up joining them. This is how you build a storyline and character. So who did you want to see win that is so important. This isn't different though. This was as predictable as you get. People hoped Daniel Bryan would win but people have known for months and they've made it no secret that Roman was the clear cut winner of the Rumble. Not only that but they did this in a market that you automatically knew was going to despise the outcome no matter what you did. It's not about a favorite losing, it's about the company going with something that they know isn't working and that entire arenas of their audience don't want to see. Not just the IWC but an entire audience turned on the show as soon as they knew what was happening When someone wins a championship in a sport, it's legitimate. When someone wins a championship in WWE, it's their choice and usually when you want to make money, you choose the person that the people want. That's the beauty of wrestling, you choose what stories you tell and who gets pushed but the problem becomes that they've become stubborn in accepting what people want. I'm not saying that Daniel Bryan is the next Stone Cold or the big star of the company but that's what people want. Or Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler. Those are guys that people love and want to see on top. When you don't give it to them because you have your own direction, that's just being petty. Think if they never capitalized on Austin 3:16 and just stood the course of what they wanted to do, they never would have gotten out of their slump. If you pick the fan favorite then you never can develop a strong heel character. I know Reigns is a face but if your pissing fans off that means their attached to your product. And if Reign was predicted by most to win it then why are fans so pissed. Now if you're gonna give the fans what they want, Roman does have quite the female fan following so maybe Vince wants to capitalize on that. Beside I don't see what all the hype on Daniel Bryant is for. To me he looks like the offspring of a lumberjack and a leprechaun.

I've been watching WWE since 1993, which IYH was worse than tonight's Rumble minus title match?? Ok I'm not prepared to back that up off hand so I'll give ya the call out on me there, but I remember finding a lot of them awful. My slant here comes from my general fandom of a rumble match, I'll admit that. Still though I refuse to hear that (not counting the title match...) this was worse than DTD.

Punk must be laughing at this. I remember last year he was baffled by the WWE not having Bryan win the Rumble.
The thing I wonder is, didn't Vince know the Philly would crap on this. I mean he's been involved in wrestling longer than us and we knew this would happen. Was it just a case of Vince knowing but being stubborn about it a la Cena.

I wonder if Harper's elimination was botched and he was supposed to go out later on. Looked like Rowan kinda pushed him off the rope

McMahon and Dunn need to go. It will never get any better with them in charge. Say what you will about how WCW was run, but they had the power to send Bischoff home when things started going south.

It's amazing, they literally had to have tried to make this Rumble match shittier than last years. Bryan gets eliminated early, nothing but a stream of midcarders for the next 15 minutes after that, once other fan favorites come in we'll have them get eliminated by f***ing Big Show and Kane and then the final 3 can be those 2 and Roman. Then, The Rock can come out to try and get people to cheer Roman. It was literally designed to piss people off. It's clear that whole thing was designed in a way that no faces would overshadow Reigns. Quality of the Rumble be damned.

I was kinda hoping that the crowd would start pelting the ring with garbage. At first I was disappointed that it never got to that point. Then I was impressed, because the fans know they'd get banned forever from going to the arena if they did, so I give them credit for that.
Still, I feel like garbage is the only way anyone in the WWE is going to wake up to this.
