It has come to my attention that Board Games and similar table top fun has gained a resurgence in popularity. Friends have been discussing Pandemic, The Star Wars X-Wing game and I've tried to give Heroquest a push. It is also approaching that festive family get together part of the year and inevitably Trivial Pursuit, Monopoly or Snakes and Ladders are bound to be played. ... I myself am keen to get a Forbidden Desert game going. So I thought a thread on the entire topic might be fun. is anyone else rolling D20s or trying to find missing cavalry for Risk? Share your tales of fun or games you have tried right here

I've been trying to get a pen and paper table top game going with my friends for months... they just take forever to ever figure out shit Other than that when we get together for non video game stuff we started playing Shadow over Camelot and/or Betrayal at House on the Hill. Both are a ton of fun and you get the chance to be an asshole towards your friends... what more do you want? I also re-bought the game Dragonstrike but haven't played it yet... mostly because I found it cheap on E-bay... which is more than I can say for Heroquest Though my friend says believes he found his old copy of the game in his mother's basement... so we may get to play that next time he's in town... or I might steal it from him one or the other:P

I love Cluedo.. such a great game, use to play it with the family a lot when we were younger. Mouse Trap is also a fun game, played that with friends awhile back, good stuff Monopoly is the only board game I refuse to play. Edit: Just remembered another... Ker Plunk, hours of fun

Ah yes Kerplunk, that was a fun game. Anyone ever play clue 2... that was a fun game... if only barely related to Clue

Clue, Monopoly, and Trivial Pursuit barely get recognition at my parents' house on holidays anymore due to my yearly tradition of wrecking shop at those games. We're big fans of the Game of Things and Cards Against Humanity in my current domicile.

Been a beast lately at Clue. Not to shabby at Settlers of Catan and Cards Against Humanity. I love playing Munchkin. I'm a real bastard at that game lol

I guess some games could get reviewed or highlighted by those who played them:
Curse of the Idol
This has been bugging me as I couldn't remember the name of the damn thing, but yes this was a board game I got as a kid for Christmas in the late 80s. As is standard this advert makes it a lot more exciting than it actually was. It was quite fun in an Indiana Jones kind of way especially the rotating gear platforms and the idol. Not sure if it made it to the States but if you can find it, then it might amuse.

In other news does anyone watch the Tabletop series on youtube with Wil Wheaton? Pretty good series if you like board/card games.

less popular/new board and card games I've played and liked - Settlers of Catan, Dominion, Smallworld, and Pandemic. Catan especially was a near-daily tradition in my college dorm. SO MUCH SHOUTING ABOUT SHEEP.
Of the classic board games, the only one I really love is Scrabble. I can take or leave most other games.
Growing up, my favorite was probably Tornado Rex.

Growing up other than the ones I listed my favorite was probably the omega virus or the grape escape

As far as newer games go, Dominion is really fun, and there are a lot of good party games.

I've been playing a lot of Race for the Galaxy. Have the first expansion and looking to get the second one soon.
Also, when it comes to Monopoly, is there a special verison you guys play? Asking because I learned about the Mega edition that adds property and heard it makes the game much better.

This thread caused me to look up Pandemic, which lead me to Wil Wheton's web series Table Top.
I'm not sure if I should thank this thread, or shake my fist in anger at it.

There are so many versions of monopoly but I do try to stick to the games ruled otherwise it goes on forever or until someone flips the board in a rage Didn't know they made a mega version with more buildings and a bigger board, very interesting.

I always wondered if in Don't Wake Daddy, if they were just trying to be courteous, or if they were worried he'd hit them.

I should mention this can include discussing other table top games like Magic the Gathering or non table games like Charades or Twister.
The real question is did anyone successfully play Mouse Trap?

Define successful... me my brother and sister used to just build the thing and not actually pay attention to the rules Also... a card game that I've played a few times when I was bored with Cards against Humanity is Superfight! ruin your friendships today! www.superfightgame.com/
