Last night wasn't a good one for poor Roman, with a boring match with Big Show and a lot of negative crowd reaction. So let's say that WWE gives his vocal detractors a Christmas present and decide that this isn't his year.
Who should win the Rumble and go on to face Brock at Mania (assuming that Bryan won't be ready to go in time)? What match do you give Reigns instead in order to keep him strong (sorry) for a possible title shot further down the road?

Are we absolutely certain Brock is champion until Mania? If not, Ambrose wins the Rumble to face Rollins the champ

If Brock walks into Mania as champ = Roman wins the Rumble
If anyone else wins the title at the Rumble = Ziggler wins the Rumble.
That's how it will happen.

I feel like Ziggler is going to be the choice because they feel like having Ambrose spin his wheels for a while (I don't mind, as much as I like him) and Reigns is getting dumped on.
Even if Reigns was a phenomenal wrestler, I'd be averse to having him win the title just because it's so early in his career. Same goes for Ambrose. They could each use another year of polish and time spent chomping at the bit. Granted, I'd keep pushing them both, but Ziggler's been around for so long and done so much work and seems to be doing better, crowd-wise, than other choices are, so he seems like the best bet.

I kind of feel like it's now or never with Ziggler, whereas Reigns and Ambrose could easily have another year of experience before their WWE title runs

A month ago I would have said Ambrose, now Ziggler all the way!
