I don't get it. At all. It's kind of a small horse, I mean what am I missing? Am I crazy?

The only thing I would change about it is that Hogan throws Flair over the top rope, causing a DQ, because "Hogan was new in WCW and din't knew the rules". Then have Hogan go over in the rematch, presumably to an even higher gate/buyrate. I dunno, that scenario would have made Hogan look like a blithering idiot.

I do think Hogan and Flair put on a better match in 1994 WCW than they would have in 1992 WWF.
Anyone care to agree or disagree with that?

In the long run it was a bad thing for the company. WCW drew for a while but over time Hogan's backstage politics and the NWO refusing to ever die wrecked the company. Say what you will, but if Hogan doesn't go there I think WCW would be around today, even as a non Turner property. As far as Austin goes, the guy was totally buried by the end of 1994. The guy started the year as US champ and potential future world champ and by Starrcade wasn't even on PPVs. Pillman's depush started pre Hogan though and he drifted aimlessly until joining the Horsemen. I totally disagree.

When Hogan got in the ring, he had an intensity about him that I hadn't noticed in a while. It's like he showed up to work and wanted to have a good match. Flair did his thing in that match and was fine, but I was surprised that Hogan really kinda stole the show. The only thing I can think of is that maybe Hogan was entering Flair's back yard, so he wanted to give it his all. If it had been Flair entering Hogan's back yard, I don't know that he would have been as motivated.

Well, I was thinking more of a brain-fart on Hulk's part in the heat of battle, not that he deliberately throws Flair over.

It didn't have to be a title match. They could have had the Macho Man win the Rumble and the title and defend it against Jake "The Snake" Roberts. And, Hogan's retirement match could have been against Flair. Who does Sid Justice wrestle? Duggan. 4 minutes in, double count-out, brawl to the back.

Dusty finishes just about killed the territory.
