Basically, if your unfamiliar with the term there might be a guy or a couple of guys standing around handing out pieces of paper promoting their upcoming indie shows. I remember I went to a show in the very early 2000s (2000 or 2001) which was my first exposure for this happening even though I had went to a bunch of shows before that. However, I haven't been handed an indie flyer at a WWE show in sometime. I figured it had less to do with it not happening and more to do with me becoming pretty good damn at ignoring people.
So does this still happen?
Also, has anyone ever actual done it as part of an indie company here? Ever get in trouble? As far as I know isn't it illegal to solicit in front of most privately owned venues where WWE runs?

Indies do this all the time to advertise their wares. I don't think it's illegal and even if it was, most often any security out there just wants everybody to go home.

It's a common practice. I seen indies put out flyers outside other indy shows. Only time I witness problems was when it was for a rival promoter and the indy promoter running their show didn't like that shit. WWE doesn't give a damn if someone passes out flyers outside the arena. They do if the fools try to pass it out inside though.

I didn't see any at the House show I went to last week... but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

It's far more common in the UK with indies flyering outside other indies, usually bigger ones. But it does still happen with WWE in the States - I know of AIW flyering outside WWE shows in Cleveland, and ACW/Inspire Pro flyering whenever WWE are in Austin, TX.

Almost every televised wwe show I attend has people outside with flyers after it ends.

It happened at a WWE house show I went to a few years back. So it probably still happens. I don't know how effective it is though.

Didn't TNA try doing this at WM24 including the rumour of plans of having an advertising plane fly over the stadium advertising Impact?

Actually I think they did do it but they were to high to even see the banner. I remember seeing a plane with a banner flying over the stadium during the Money in the Bank match.

I've seen it in the past but the Indy scene is so dead in Louisiana I'm not sure if they have anyone actually running shows right now. Last good indy in Louisiana was AAW in Lafayette 10 years ago.

I once applied to be a street-team member for someone but I can't remember...that was about five years ago. They're even flyering at ROH shows. I'd like to think it's mutually beneficial.

It happens a lot in the parking lot of Chicago shows. Was really frequent from like 1999-2003.
There was one promotion, I want to say PCW or something like that, who was always in the parking lot with fliers, handing them to fans as they left.
