The Sandman thread got me thinking about guys who were in the WWE far longer than anyone thought they would be. Of course JTG is the king of this but the one who I'm thinking about is Balls Mahoney. He was in the WWE from 2005-2008 and was initially brought in because of his tag team with Axl Rotten and most thought when Axl was fired before debuting that Balls would be gone as well but he was actually featured quite heavily on ECW and had a storyline with Kelly Kelly.

Mike Knox.
Sure, there were times when he was hardly on TV at all, but all in all...
Curt Hawkins would be another.

Zack Ryder's been on the main roster since 2007. He's a straight-up veteran at this point.

Funaki is another one that lasted way longer than anyone would have thought. He went from a random member of the Kaientai stable to a goofy jobber tag team with Taka Michonoku to eventually winning the Cruiserweight title.

Khali
His knees checked out some time around 2008, but he somehow managed to put in another six years.

Bob Holly was around a crazy long time, Glen Jacobs even moreso. To think Fake Diesel is still kicking around 18 years later. Also Mark Henry, blows my mind thinking that the random guy at Summerslam 1996 is still wrestling years after Bret and Shawn called it a career.

Yeah, any of the big men from the Attitude Era. The funny thing is, if it wasn't for Kane's shitty booking and how they've made him into the most boring thing imaginable, he'd still be massively over with the crowds. If he ever turns face again and puts on the mask, he'd be set.

It was pretty awesome to see that the guys in the back thought highly of Tajiri as a solid veteran hand and wanted to keep him around forever. In hindsight, you'd think he'd get released when you see some of the talent that dipped from WCW/ECW at the time. Everyone loves Tajiri damnit.

Daniel Bryan wins this one. Dude went from being quietly released due to Tiegate to being one of the most over guys in the company. What a twist.

Ric Flair. It amazes me that he outlasted guys like DDP and Kanyon as an active performer given his age and his personal demons. They bent over backward to keep Flair happy and out of jail, enabling him at every turn in a way they have no other worker in their history, and it would probably have been better for Flair if they hadn't as he's learned nothing. To be fair at that point Bret and Shawn both had over a decade of wrestling behind them at that point so a guy at the beginning of his career is bound to outlast them both.

Sexual Chocolate. How he lasted the AE is crazy enough, let alone become of the best booked WHC in recent memory with the Hall of Pain.

With the benefit of hindsight, Bret Hart
By his own admission, when he started he was a rotten talker, then he was almost Cowboy Bret Hart which would have almost definitely ruined his career.
But then he got his way, teamed with Neidhart and Jimmy Hart and the rest is history
Say what you like about him, but Bret is proof that hard work will get you a long way

When I think about it, the biggest surprise of all might be Tommy Dreamer.
A WWE tenure of 2001-2010.
He even worked backstage management for a brief time during that run.
