Ryback cuts this soul-draining promo that was so bad, they had to fill it with B Roll. He botched his lines three times. He spent ten minutes getting to his tag line. His push may culminate with the U.S. Belt.
Cesaro cuts a promo with only one botch (admittedly, it was a lame "pipebomb") and gets rewarded by jobbing to #BNB.
As The Joker says, "It's a funny world we live in."

I'll just say that I'd rather hear botches on the mic than have someone sound like they're reading from a script and get all of the lines perfect. As for Cesaro jobbing, that's WWE for you.

Ryback's promo touched me more. Even though he botched, the guy's promo did the job, it pulled you in and it made you get a better feel for his character. Ryback's promo felt more real to me. Cesaro's was thrown off when he botched regardless what he said before. It didn't pull me in, it didn't make me think "wow this guy's amazing" or anything like that. It made me think "Well, good job I guess, let's see what happens."
Two different kinds of promos.

Ryback was actually him being him.
Cesaro was just trying to get heel heat.

Ryback didn't botch anything. Stumbling over one word slightly during a long promo isn't a botch. Saying there are 4 ropes, or threatening to bring your best pipebon, that's a botch.

Cesaro didn't lose to Bad News Barrett because he botched.
I think Ryback's the more compelling character right now and he should be higher up in the pecking order than Cesaro. I like Cesaro as a tough heel midcard out - like Greg Valentine in the 80s, but I just don't see him connecting in a major storyline.

I like the idea that Cesaro jobbing was an impromptu snap decision because he was f***ing up too much.

Ryback's promo being bad is news to me.
I thought it was pretty well received around here, considering we just had a thread praising it.

I thought Rybacks promo was great, really surprised me. on the other hand I didn't enjoy Cesaro's at all, felt like they told him to go out and be Punk, including sat cross legged in the corner of the ring. Rybacks seemed legit and him being him, Cesaro's came across as him trying to play a role he was ordered to play, that he wasn't really comfortable with.
However, I would take both promo's, and Luke Harpers, over the constant silence I have been used to over the last 10+ years from none upper card wrestlers!

Cesaro's current character suits him about as much as the ice-cold killer routine suited Miz. Sometimes you just need to let guys be themselves to thrive.

I think I'm starting to see that a bit in this tag team with Kidd. He seems to be a lot more loose and not as uptight playing off of Kidd's douchebaggery as he was in singles for the last few months.

I turned on RAW at the very start of Cesaro's promo. Him in the corner with the towel I thought "What about Raven?"
Then he started talking about how 2014 should have been his year. The fans that were briefly chanting "WHAT" shut up and people were actually getting behind what he was saying. I thought "This is interesting"
Then he got to the "I don't care about any of you" part and I thought "Oh, it's just a heel cutting a heel promo." BNB's music hit and I knew it was so long Cesaro.
Didn't see Ryback's promo so I can't comment.

Cesaro was gonna lose to BNB in 3 minutes regardless what he said. That's why the whole thing is stupid

Ryback's promo being bad is news to me. I thought it was pretty well received around here, considering we just had a thread praising it. Some people either missed the point, or thought that Ryback was trying to be fake about this... or could care less for him. If you listened to his interview on Talk is Jericho, this is pretty much what he said there. Cesaro's on the other hand, sounded like a scripted promo that he screwed up, and when you screw up something that was written for you (considering that they view him too Swiss to do anything on his own), you probably aren't gonna get any mic time for a long while.

It would have come off really weird if Cesaro had delivered the promo flawlessly, then lost the same way (which he would have).
