I have a few things to say about this. First, this happened in a championship game. Second, this came AFTER both of these things came out and prompted the league to warn all teams about ball manipulation (sort of like how Spygate happened after the Patriots were specifically given a warning over their taping of signals a month or so earlier). Third, for everyone saying that nothing has been proven, I think that by now we should know better. Inspecting the game balls is a simple act. It would take one official with a single air pressure gauge less than 15 minutes to inspect all 12 of the Patriot's game balls. The NFL knew by Monday at the latest whether or not those balls were properly inflated or not. Do you think, after the year that the NFL has had, that Goodell is about to let one of the competitors in his league's showcase game be sullied by the potential stink of cheating allegations if he could simply say, "the balls all passed inspection"? The fact that nothing has been said yet is an indicator to me that the league is investigating further into the handling of the balls, which would be completely unnecessary if the balls passed inspection.

Man, I don't care who does it. If teams are breaking the rules, punish them. And punishments need to be more severe. Vikings, Packers, Patriots. If they all did it, suspend all their head coaches for an entire season, or alternately, take all their picks in an entire draft. Teams need to learn that this isn't okay. The League needs to step up and bust people's heads when they break the rules of the game. But the fact of the matter is the Vikings and Packers (Packers did it against the Patriots, mind you) deflating balls (just like other coaches doing camera crap) will be ultimately forgotten except for the Patriots because the Patriots are the elite team and envy spawns hatred. Envy contributes, but pride is far more important. People hate the Patriots because of the Patriots' fanbase's peerless superiority complex. A feeling that the Patriots are entitled to going to the Super Bowl, are above all criticism, that Tom Brady is the GOAT QB, that Belichick is the GOAT coach, that Bob Kraft is the GOAT owner, etc. It has rather little to do with envy. The Packers and the Steelers are also serially high-level teams, but get far less vitriol. Oh, and the boasting. Can't forget the boasting. The Patriots aren't the elite team. The Seahawks are the elite team. The Patriots haven't been the elite team in almost five years. What happened five, ten years ago is ultimately irrelevant in the world of professional sports. The here and now is always the most important, and right now, since they won the most recent SB, that rests with Seattle right now.

Where in the blue hell did you get teams had been warned about it this season? The memo only warned not to warm balls in cold games, not properly inflate them.

Packers.....yeah, they don't. And oh yeah.....getting to the playoffs every year basically via division dominance and 3 straight AFC Title games.....says they are still elite.

Where in the blue hell did you get teams had been warned about it this season? The memo only warned not to warm balls in cold games, not properly inflate them. Geez, chill man. I only knew that a memo was sent out the week following both of these things coming to light. It isn't unreasonable to assume that the league addressed both of them since they had to make official comments on both of them that week. Even if they had not specifically sent out a memo about it, it is not that uncommon for the second person to do something to get in more trouble than the first, especially when one does it in the playoffs rather than a regular season game. Trent Richardson was reportedly suspended for Sunday's AFC Championship Game. Well that explains why they lost. How can you win when your 6th best HB is not in the game?

So, if the balls were deflated shouldn't both teams have suffered for it? A deflated ball doesn't explain a blow out like that. I think the Colts and their fans are just looking for any excuse now.

Packers.....yeah, they don't. And oh yeah.....getting to the playoffs every year basically via division dominance and 3 straight AFC Title games.....says they are still elite. You didn't say elite, you said THE elite team. There is a profound difference between those two. And that is precisely what I'm alluding to. The Patriots aren't the team of the NFL and they haven't been for a while. They're still a force to be reckoned with, but for a lot of Patriot fans, admitting that isn't good enough. The Ravens won the second most recent Super Bowl and are perennial contenders, narrowly losing on the road against the Patriots in two of their three potential Super Bowl appearances, but I'm not going to pretend that the Ravens (a team that has more recently won the Super Bowl) are THE team. Only the Seahawks can lay claim to that. Sidenote: I live in AFC North territory, where hatred runs for the Steelers traditionally has run the deepest. The Steelers are barely on anyone's radar here except for divisional games. When the Steelers fanbase held the same attitude the Patriots fanbase does now, believe me, that hatred was a lot stronger. But because Steelers fans have calmed down, so have we. If the Patriots fanbase was a little less proud, there'd be a little less hostility.

Each team provides their own balls for their offense. This means that if the balls were deflated, the only time any Colt handled one was during Jackson's interception in the second quarter.

What comes around, goes around......Jets did the same slimy crap with Parcells so the Jets were owed one head coach screwing them over to go with the other. Sorry, I have ZERO sympathy for the Jets. They made their bed by stealing another team's coach and they will freaking lie on it. Actually the Jets gave the Patriots a 1st-4th draft pick over three years. So the Jets didnt steal anyone. And the Pats gave the Jets a first round pick for Belichick. And Belichick didn't even want the Jets job in the first place. He just got caught up in the pissing war between Bob Kraft and Bill Parcells. www.patsfans.com/articles/patriots/2920/How-Exactly-Will-History-Judge-Parcells-(Pt-3).html

This is just beyond stupid though...
The NFL is a multi billion dollar league, spend a couple hundred dollars, and produce and mandate the footballs to be used for each game, and pay a dude that his only job is to make sure each football is suitable for use. Then if something screws up, you know who's at fault.
That doesn't seem hard to do.
