So the first track on WrestleMania: The Album, aptly named... WrestleMania.. Starts out with audio asking is everyone ready for The Survivor Series... Who will Survive!..?
Huh?
Did anyone else when they were younger listen to this and think WTF? Why are they asking about Survivor Series when this is about WrestleMania?
Any idea why they started that song like that?

I'd say the biggest WTF is that WWE has the video on its YouTube channel! I had WrestleMania: The Album on cassette, and I still have the CD.

I play this every year the day of WrestleMania and invite my friend over for Survivor Series. Joke never gets old.

I still have the CD, with the apparently UK only track with Crush.
Since I'm not in the UK, not sure how I bought it in stores like that when I was 10.

I thought it was weird, but I figured whoever put the songs together wasn't really a WWF fan.
I had (still have) the VHS version.

Still have my CD. I listened to it so much i'm surprised it's still in such great condition.
Campy as all hell, but who doesn't love that opening track?

The original Wrestling Album and Piledriver made sense considering the Rock 'N Wrestling era and it was a good mix of songs intended for the wrestlers and songs written simply for the Album. By 1993, having an album with no themes whatsoever was pretty poor and especially during the slow period for business. Around the same time, WWF Magazine was advertising a free music video tape with purchases of select Coliseum Videos. Guess that's how well it was selling. By mid to late 1990s, they got the right idea in having theme only CDs (Full Metal only had two non-themes, though they wound up being used for Raw a year or two later).

I think they wanted that line "Are you ready?!" but then just forgot to cut out "for the Survivor Series?!" at the end. Whoops. I still have the CD, with the apparently UK only track with Crush. Since I'm not in the UK, not sure how I bought it in stores like that when I was 10. You probably got an "import CD" (which were often, like, double the price, but sometimes not). I used to see import CDs all the time at old Sam Goody and Musicland stores.

Wasn't there a version of the song with Davey Boy Smith in it as well?

My parents drove practically everyone at the local Circuit City crazy because their flyer said they had it and they didn't, and no one there even knew what we were talking about. ("'Wrestlemania The Album'? What's that?") Someone finally went in the back and found a copy.
Now you know why everyone shops online nowadays.

Here's my bullshit explanation of why it says that at the beginning.
Some random dude asks "Are you ready for the Survivor Series?"
then the music starts and another guy says "It's '93...it's time for Wrestlemania!"
Guy 2 is telling Guy 1 to get with the times, he's months behind. It's time for Wrestlemania, not the Survivor Series!

The funny thing about that video is that two-thirds of the people focused on weren't even on the WrestleMania card that year. Only Bret and Tatanka were.

That describes EVERY interaction I had in the late 90s looking for wrestling CDs, although I think only one time was anyone able to find it for me. I wound up finding the rest on my own.
