Name me some great musicians from the 1910s without using Google. Is that before Hoagy Carmichael's time? IDK because I have no idea who he is.

I refuse to believe anyone doesn't know who Paul McCartney is, I mean they have google at their disposal. By that same logic I roll my eyes anytime on here enters a thread about someone just to say ''Who?!''

I have a friend who genuinely didn't know who he is. I did ask her how she can't know who somebody is in the age of the Internet, and her response was "I suck at Google". After a little more questioning, I found out that she's heard of The Beatles, but couldn't name a single song, nor a single member. Younger generations becoming less aware of cultural icons of the past is inevitable. We just live in a time when people can broadcast that fact to the masses. Name me some great musicians from the 1910s without using Google. Bill Murray. It's true! Look it up

Gotta love the modern age where we make a thing out of everything.

See, this is why I hate that Twitter has become pretty much the one-stop shop for news pretty much around the world. The media can't be arsed to actually do research nowadays. >_> If it is on Twitter, it must be true! No one would lie on Twitter!

I wonder if any of these accounts actually exists.
Also, why is "dumb tweets by random people" a category of news articles that exists now?

Is that before Hoagy Carmichael's time? IDK because I have no idea who he is. First, I went ahead and looked up the answer to my question for myself. He started composing in 1918, so 1910 was a little bit before his time. Second, I'll tell you who he was. Essentially, he was a jazz composer whose works are probably better remembered by more contemporary covers of his songs. You might recognize that song from "Big". A couple of other of his songs that were covered a lot was "Stardust" and "The Nearness of You".

Even if real, I don't see what the big deal is. The Beatles were 30-50 years ago and don't make the news regularly today. I wouldn't be surprised about people legitimately not knowing at least the names of its individual members. The Beatles changed music forever and are the biggest musical act there's ever been. Everyone who likes music should know who they are.

I'm gonna cling to the hope that at least some people don't know who Paul McCartney is and think that Kanye just found Dude-san Boyle.

Man, based on this thread title I was so hoping this had something to do with Hulk Hogan either training McCartney or the Hulkster claiming he was offered a spot in Wings but said Paul should get the spot instead.

Even if these tweets were real, even if there's a few kids out there that don't know about McCartney and the Beatles, so what? They're the goddamn Beatles, EMI alone does everything possible to keep most people from forgetting about them. They're in no danger of falling into obscurity with any demographic.
Keep in mind though that I think My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy deserves just as much praise as Rubber Soul, got so I might be biased.

Yeah, f*** that guy...I don't care how good his music is.

I kid you not. I had to interview people on the street and get their reactions when Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston died. Yes, I found teenagers who didn't know them.
