In this hypothetical, if New Japan got a weekly TV deal live on Monday nights head to head with Raw for three hours with Jim Ross and Matt Striker calling the action, would you watch that instead of Raw, or would it not be enough to pique your interest? This poll is not suggesting in any way that I think this is a good idea, I just want to see, out of a group of hardcore wrestling fans, of the variety that seem more pre-disposed to like WWE style wrestling, how many would be willing to "defect" if a viable alternative were on TV.
I'm doing this poll here because FAN is a different kind of smarky than a lot of other kind of forums where I've seen this sentiment kind of rise up... (same kinda smarky as me) where we are are less workrate and MOVEZ obsessed than say the old DVDR forums but your average poster is on average more well informed than on some other forums with heavier traffic.
That's why I wonder if a super serious, heavy on the workrate style promotion like NJPW had a weekly TV show on Monday Nights (which yes, I agree would be a horrible idea since it would never hook casual fans and would basically wind up like the TNA "war" just with better TV) with good english commentary would be enough for your average FAN fan to choose that over Raw on mondays.
I loved the Wrestle Kingdom 9 show and was still on a high from that going into what was really just an average Raw that by unfair comparison then seemed like THE WORST THING IN THE HISTORY OF TELEVISION! But that's beside the point.

I would click between them, same as I did with WCW and WWE during the MNW.

Well damn it. Now I wish I had included that as an option, but it is too late.

Watch raw and DVR New Japan since I never seen a full New Japan show or even a match from them the past six years

I love New Japan but I have no problem waiting forever to watch their shows.

I'd set up two TV's next to each-other to watch them at the same time.
I'LL TAKE EM BOTH, I'M HARDCORE

Watch NJPW, not watch RAW.
Though they didn't go head-to-head, that's basically what I did last night. It was kind of surreal to be watching WK9 and tweeting excitedly about how great it was, only to see everyone on my timeline complaining about how bad RAW was.

At the moment I'd record/watch NJPW and not bother with Raw.
Long-term I'd rather Raw pulled out of it's downward spiral and became a show I find enjoyable to watch again, I'm happy to watch other companies but WWE at their best will (probably?) always be my favourite.
(Actually I think I'd struggle with any wrestling company putting out a weekly three hour show but that's not in the spirit of this tread)

I'd flick.
I actually do that now, only between RAW and whatever else happens to be on.

NJPW. I don't even need to watch Raw to know what's going to happen. Authority screwjobs, run in dq's, Super Cena, flying Usos Maggle! nonsensical heatless Bray promos, Ambrose will make stupid faces, Reigns will try too hard to be cool, the good workers will be made to look like jokes, the commentary will be lifeless corporate shilling, Rollins will give a HHH'esque heel promo that drones on forever, horrible dated comedy with little people, etc.

Probably New japan, as long as it didnt degrade in quality as a result of having a weekly show :/

NJPW easily. There's an actual variety to their matches, and they don't just "get out" of matches they book by having DQs or run-ins. On a Raw show, you can look at who's the ring and already know there won't be a good finish.

Time zones. Even if NJPW had a live, weekly tv show it wouldn't be on the same time as WWE.

I cannot fathom how anybody can sit through a three hour wrestling show like RAW. I can't imagine what a three hour New Japan TV programme would be like either.
So I don't know. I don't know why I bothered posting.
