...Seeing, as he died when I was six, I figured I'd ask here, was his gimmick just suplexing Japanese dudes? Because, Jesus Christ:
Dude looks like a monster!

Yup. His whole gimmick in Japan was that he was this gigantic American who liked beating people up and throwing them everywhere.

And his match with Kawada is a really good example of how to mix MMA and amateur wrestling realism with pro wrestling drama. At the least, it's a good showing how to get around the "nobody seriously holds out in an armbar that long" problem that I know many had with Alberto Del Rio...

Gary was a big deal in All Japan. He was Dr Death's regular tag team partner and they used to brutalize the shit out of people. Only thing I didn't like about Albright was that he had gangling arms in comparison to the rest of his body. He's also a member of the Anoa'i family by marriage to Afa's daughter. It's the sad that his first official match in the US was his last one.

Ya know, I ended up googling him after seeing a GIF of him and thinking it was Dr Death, goddamn, I'll have to look for some of his matches now! Shame he didn't get more of an exposure in the US, could see him getting over as a face simply via the medium of tossing the heels around.

He was on his way to getting US exposure but he died before it could come to fruition. I remember a rumor going around that ECW was going to bring him in. But by all means look up his matches. You won't be disappointed.
