IMO, music in wrestling is a huge part of the business, and Jim Johnston has made great theme music that enhanced a lot of wrestlers to get over. WCW always had issues with their theme music being either generic, or ripoffs of other music bands like Pearl Jam.
Say Bischoff contacts Jim Johnston to join WCW in 1996 and he agrees to it. Would you think there would be a drastic improvement on the WCW characters and their gimmicks? I know WCW did not push a lot of stars during the whole NWO thing, but I think most wrestlers would have gotten over more with an awesome theme music.

I don't think it really wouldn't have mattered, because WCW wouldn't have had him put effort into anyone they didn't want pushed.
The guys they really wanted to have cool music got cool themes anyway, while the generic and/or recycled music went to low card acts that jobbed on the first hour of Nitro.
Besides, it was fun seeing who would come out to the old Hollywood Blonds music each week anyway.

Even though they were mostly stock songs, I always thought WCW had pretty good music.
