Bryan Alvarez on today's Bryan & Vinny & Craig Show on F4WOnline.com (this one's available for free) states that WWE are "punishing" Dolph Ziggler for getting booked on a comedy show without going through them, and that's why they took the Intercontinental Title off him... although Alvarez noted that in doing so, they also didn't put Bad News Barrett over either.
In before the "but Dolph's on a comedy show every Monday" replies.

This is the most legit he's looked since his debut, so I don't see the punishment here.

Morons, the whole lot of 'em.
At least they didn't fire him for daring to branch out without going through them, they've done that before.

Why does he have to go through the WWE to get booked on the JBL & Cole Show?

Considering that the IC Championship is tossed around like a game of Hot Potato, I actually don't see why that's a punishment.

And what did Ryback and Rowan do to be punished essentially the same way Ziggler was?

Going by the results of whenever a news report comes out that someone is in the doghouse: Ziggler is winning the Royal Rumble and main eventing Wrestlemania.

And what did Ryback and Rowan do to be punished essentially the same way Ziggler was? By associating with Dolph, they got the HEATZ via osmosis.

I think it was more of a hypothetical. Assuming what Bryan reported was true than why not put Barrett over strong?

Or they took the IC title off him in order to do the firing angle. You know, a reason that makes sense.

Or they took the IC title off him in order to do the firing angle. You know, a reason that makes sense. Wouldn't put it beyond them to fire the IC Champion, and make a huge deal of that. But according to Alvarez, losing the title was indeed because of not informing WWE of the comedy show date.

But according to Alvarez, losing the title was indeed because of not informing WWE of the comedy show date. I know people love to think WWE has no foresight but it was part of the Authority's plan. Kane came out after Barrett got pinned and Wade kicked Ziggler's ass to say it was a 2 out of 3 fall match. Wade wins the 2nd fall easy but Ziggler puts up a fight before the odds overcome him. If WWE was going to punish him, they wouldn't made him look strong in defeat. If it was Dolph losing in 3 minutes clean, we have something. This sounds like a stretch worthy of Reed Richards.

Yeah, that was some punishment, pinning Barrett clean only to lose after corruption and interferences. Gotcha.
What would I do without mindless newz?

If he had told them, they would have told him no, and sent Cena instead

Why do I get the feeling that these two guys were just shooting the shit and it's being reported as news?
"I wonder if AJ has heat because of Punk." becomes "AJ has heat because of Punk."
"Do you think they'd punish Dolph for something like that? I guess, yeah, but BNB didn't really go over either." becomes "Dolph is being punished."

I didn't listen to the podcast, so for all I know they might not even have reported it as concrete anyway, but people really need to remember how many rumours and different slants on stories there are flying around an environment like WWE. Sure, these people genuinely do talk to guys in the company to get their reports, but it's not as if they've got a direct line to Vince or Triple H, they're still hearing it through the grapevine Chinese whispers and all. Dolph probably did get it trouble for doing a comedy show without permission, so the next time something mildly negative happens to him booking wise, of course, even within the company, people are gonna start making suppositions about punishment.
Secondly, Dolph was getting fired later in the night in a main event angle, so of course they had him drop the midcard title that's more of a hindrance than a help to his chances of getting to the top. Unless he's on Superstars by the end of the month, I really wouldn't consider it a burial of any kind. It's like when Alvarez said AJ dropping the title only to win it back a month later was to 'spite her.' By making her successful and booking her on every PPV and episode of Raw? Come on! WWE just doesn't care about the midcard so half-asses its storylines and hotshots titles, that's all. We've seen what it looks like when WWE actually actively buries people, and this isn't it.
