Following Dolph Ziggler's performance a couple months ago at Survivor Series, several people understandably brought up Shawn Michaels' performance at Survivor Series 2003. I recall Lance Storm wondering what could have happened if he was put into Michaels' role that year.
As most of you probably remember Storm was in the middle of that "Boring" gimmick, which ultimately led to "Dancing" Lance Storm. This all happened just before Survivor Series 2003 and there was later an episode of Raw in which he publicly supported Steve Austin for encouraging him to become more interesting. Storm wrote that this could have been the catalyst for joining Team Austin for Survivor Series 2003. Although he praised Michaels for his performance, he thought WWE missed the opportunity to push someone new and he wondered if that could have been his star-making moment.
What do you all think? Do you think Survivor Series 2003 could have been Storm's moment? I always liked the guy and would have been happy to see him get more than he did. I don't know if he would have been added to the Wrestlemania XX main event, but he could have at least been on the card.
Thoughts?

Lance Storm was one of the biggest casualties of the MNW. When 2 big companies become 1 big company, some guys are going to fall through the cracks. I have talked to friends about this before.. It is forgotten how big of a push Storm was getting in WCW. He had his star making moment, it was just in the wrong company. He had every damn midcard title they had at once. Storm was the hottest heel in WCW. It is a myth that he was this talented worker who never got his shot. He was heavily featured in WCW and ECW. When he got to WWE they just too many new toys. Storm comes over by himself a la his buddy Y2J, he probably gets another good push. They acquire him in a lot and it is easier for him to be lost in the shuffle.

I really don't think that could've been a star-making angle for him, only because he had too much to overcome between being "boring" and being the dancing guy, and he'd been around for too long at that point for it to happen. With the right timing and push he could've been a big star, the time to push him was right when he came in during the Invasion.

The difference is Dolph won his match and Shawn Michaels lost his. In Michaels losing it made the heels look more heelish taking it away from him. If team Austin was going to win the match then it would make more sense to have someone like Storm be made by it. Of course they weren't going to because they clearly pegged Storm to where they were going to use him.

It would have been nice if he was in instead of Booker/RVD and have him eliminate Steiner and Henry to give him some credability and then they could have Steiner v Storm as a feud

Not with those little red trunks he was wearing.
I hated those.

Not with those little red trunks he was wearing. I hated those. Dunno why he switched from the two-color tights he wore in ECW and WCW to the trunks. I liked the two-color tights.

I understand where they were coming from with the "boring" chant. If you ever talk to the guy in real life, he isn't particularly exciting. But his ring work is. He's very easily one of the most underutilized guys WWE has ever had. Its a shame such a gimmick killed any momentum he could have picked up.

I love Lance but...no. He's trying to get himself over here (nothing wrong with that, BTW). He never would have had the charisma to do it as well as HBK did.

I'd rather Lance have a Frank Grimes gimmick.

Wasn't it something about Vince not liking people wearing tights? Or is that just one of those eternal rumours about ol' Vinny Mac?
